Award winning guitarist Jack Falk has been playing guitar ever since he was a child growing up. Jack's influences have been many and he has a taste of each one in his playing style. Jack grew up in a period of time when the rock and roll scene was grabbing hold of the blues and redeveloping it with a harder edge sound. Overdriven sweet tube sounding blues with sustain and clarity shimmering in each and every note played the most important factor in developing this sound. Back then you needed to turn your tube amp up to 10 and learn to control the feedback and sweet tube sustain coming out of the amp. It was an art all in itself and Jimi Hendrix was the master of controlling this technique.
Jack listened to so much of Jimi's playing that he became one with the sound, style and emotion at one point of his life. He would just close his eyes, turn the amps up and go for it. At times you could see Jimi's shadow in the room as he was playing and pushing the guitar to its limits. This was told to Jack by people who were there at places that Jack played at. Jack used the same Marshall Full stacks that Jimi used along with a Univibe pedal and a Vox Wah pedal and a home made tube driver to recreate the tones needed to reach this special place where space time and spirits all become one. This was very hard on the gear and Jack always had to have his Marshall heads re-tubed and worked on after a few shows. Jack's playing these days are more refined and more down to earth driving mostly on feel and the mood that Jack is in when he is playing. Every once in a while you might catch Jack reaching for that special place to communicate up above.
