He started to learn to play the guitar at the age of 8. In the age of 16 his biography was placed in the Lexicon of Polish Guitarists. In 2004 he graduated with honors from the Music School in Szczecin, where he was a pupil of Piotr Palac. At the present, he studies under the direction of Piotr Zaleski at the “Karol Lipinski” Academy of Music in Wroclaw and maestro Zoran Dukic at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.
He is a laureate of several competitions, including international guitar competitions in Krynica (2001) and Sanok (2005). He has also won the “Audience prize” in a competition during the Summer Guitar Courses in Krzyzowa (2004). He participated in master classes of such great guitarists as: Abel Carlevaro, Pavel Steidl, Carlo Marchione, Aniello Desiderio, Macin Dylla, Thomas Mueller-Pering.
Jakub Kościuszko has performed recitals in Poland and Germany, being invited to festivals in Szczecin, Wroclaw, Lodz, Zielona Gora, to mention but a few. In October 2006 he had his debut with orchestra, playing “Fantasia para un Gentilhombre” by Joaquin Rodrigo. Since October 2005 he plays in an already highly acclaimed duo with violinist Jacek Ropski. He received grants and scholarships from the Municipality of Szczecin, Friends of Szczecin Society and the National Fund for Talented Children.
