He studied composition with Albert Roussel and conducting with Charles Munch, to whom he acted as Assistant with the London Philharmonic in 1946. Later he conducted many world-class orchestras in Europe, Israel, and the United States. He composed four symphonies and an opera, as well as concertos and chamber music. He died in Paris.
