Not sure if I should be hearing this yet, nor do I think any other tracks should be heard before having seen the film, but this bears great similarity to Goldsmith's themes. It's surprising. Veering away from "Prometheus" too soon? I wonder. But I'll find out when I see it. Themes in "Prometheus" were good too, there should be a blend.

Awesome. Good to know! :)

I noticed that after seeing the film and listening to the full score. I was initially hesitant about the composer because I really wanted Harry Gregson-Williams to score the film, but Jed Kurzel did an outstanding job! I hope Scott uses him for the next film!

technically this is more than just "great similarity". it's actual quotes from Goldsmith's score.

Oh sweet. That's good to know. Now I wonder if the full score will be released or if it'll be more soundtrackish; out of order, blended themes for better presentation... will a fan be the one to come up with a complete version of it?

The film uses a couple of cues from Prometheus in the second act. Most notably Harry Gregson-Williams' Life in a different arrangement.

Remember when soundtracks used to come out a couple weeks before the release instead of weeks or even a month later?

I pre-ordered this CD a month ago which comes out in about six days, but this morning Amazon emailed me letting me know that I could download it today. I'm listening to the Covenant soundtrack now for the third time. Well technically the fifth time since I've seen the movie twice.

Yep, used to see a movie in the theater, took note of the soundtrack, and if I liked it I would head straight to the store and pick it up as it was always available by the time a movie hit cinemas.

It all depends on who is releasing the sound track. Most soundtracks still come out before the movie. Covenant comes out May 19th, and the soundtrack comes out May 26th, only a week later.
