Born in Dallas, TX, Jeffrey Halford grew up listening to country music artists like Roger Miller and Johnny Cash. In 1963, he relocated with his family to Los Angeles, CA. The family moved numerous times between Los Angels and San Francisco. Halford lived in, among others, Torrance, Berkeley, West L.A., Westchester, and San Mateo. He drew is musical influences from artists as diverse as Ray Charles, Dave Brubeck, Johnny Cash, Joni Mitchell, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and Buffalo Springfield.
In high school, Halford did not attend classes very frequently and only visited when there was a test. He also had some trouble with the law. Things changed when his father presented him a guitar when he was 16. After graduating from high school, Halford attended an architecture school in San Francisco. During that time, he joined Jimmy Ventilator and Harry Spider, a street band who played songs from the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson, and The Ventures. For more than a year, he played guitar in the band. Those street gigs led him to play in clubs throughout Oakland with blues musicians Sonny Lane, Mississippi Johnny Waters, and J.J. Malone. He then formed a roots rockabilly band called The Snappers, who performed for students as the house band at Ruthie’s Inn in Berkeley. The Snappers played with The Blasters, The Beat Farmers and Chris Isaak, among others.
Currently based in San Francisco, CA, Jeffrey Halford and his band The Healers, which consists of Paul Olguin (bass), Jim Norris (drums), and Rich "Goldie" Goldstein (guitar), have been touring the country, playing shows with some of the most acclaimed artists and songwriters, including, among others, Taj Mahal, Los Lobos, Etta James, The Radiators, Robert Earl Keen, John Hammond, Augie Meyers, Dave Alvin, Guy Clark, and Chuck Prophet. Jeffrey Halford was nominated for "Male Singer/Songwriter of the Year" at the 11th Annual Los Angeles Music Awards, and he won “2009 Songwriter of the Year” at the 5th Annual South Bay (Los Angeles) Music Awards.
