Just One of the Guys
Jenny Lewis Lyrics

All our friends, they're gettin' on
But the girls are still staying young
If I get caught being rude in a conversation
With a child bride on her summer vacation

No matter how hard I try to be just one of the guys
There's a little something inside that won't let me
No matter how hard I try to have an open mind
There's a little voice inside that prevents me

Ooh, how I live it got me here
Locked in this bathroom full of tears
And I have begged for you & I have borrowed,
But I've been the only sister to my own sorrow

No matter how hard I try to be just one of the guys
There's a little something inside that won't let me
No matter how hard I try to have an open mind
There's a little clock inside that keeps tickin'

There's only one difference between you & me
When I look at myself all I can see
I'm just another Lady without a baby

No matter how hard I try to be just one of the guys
There's a little something inside that won't let me
No matter how hard I try to have an open mind
There's a little cop inside that prevents me

I'm not gonna break for you
I'm not gonna pray for you
I'm not gonna pay for you
That's not what ladies do

Oh when you break
When you break
Oh when you break

really surprised at the amount of misinterpretations there are regarding this (in my opinion, anyway)

it is not at all sexist/oppressive: it is sarcastic, satirical and witty and actually condemns the idea of trying to categorise women  (in my opinion, anyway)

this is 100% about equality and about balancing the idea of what is "feminine". the answer, of course, is ANYTHING WOMEN WANT, WHETHER IT BE HAVING BABIES OR BEING "ONE OF THE GUYS"...OR BOTH. BOTH IS TOTALLY NORMAL.

the juxtaposition of a woman "caught being rude" and a "child bride" ARE TWO TYPES OF WOMEN THAT EXIST IN MODERN SOCIETIES. however, clearly, the idea of girls who are forced to be married at a young age (most less than 16) is anachronistic and repugnant and many people are fighting to put this to an end.

furthermore, the "little clock inside that keeps tickin'" line used is an outdated thought and saying that denotes to a woman's worth being based on if she can still have babies.

THE MORAL OF THE STORY: IF A WOMAN DOESN'T WANNA HAVE A BABY, OR DOESN'T WANT TO ADHERE TO ANY GENDER STEREOTYPE YOU HAVE TO OFFER, IT DOESN'T MEAN SHE IS LESS OF A WOMAN.

The movie was not horrible, HAVE YOU SEEN THE BACKGROUND ACTING??? Dude the movie is literally exactly what it was like reading twilight, it's a perfect adaptation

Kristen nails bella
Robert nails edward
Anna nails jessica

IT'S SO FUCKING GOOD AND AWKWARD AS HELL, just like everyone's high school experience

You're just looking at it the wrong way. The novel Twlight is a romance, but the movie Twilight is a comedy with romance in the background

Is it weird that I find tomboys like Kristen Stewart dressed as a guy more attractive than actual guys sometimes?

Josh

...yes. that's weird.

Ramey Chisum

Yes. At least for me because I am attracted to men not women. Whatever floats your boat.
