In a recent decision to go out on his own as a soloist, Jim expressed his excitement about what God has in store.
Jim Mahalick, formerly known as the baritone singer for the well received mixed group, the Hoskins Family, has felt God calling him into a new ministry. His love for gospel music, along with his lovefor Christ has given him an urge to reach as many souls as he can. Now the Jim Mahalick that you remember with the Hoskins Family
has not really changed that much, other than the fact that he will be touring with a live band. Jim has deep roots in southern gospel, and plans to always make southern gospel songs part of his program. His brand new solo release, "New Hope Road" is more of a progressive country Christian project. This blend of southern gospel and country, seems to work well for Jim.
Over the past 5 years while touring with the Hoskins Family Jim has learned that a ministry like this is serious stuff. "I am amazed at the amount of people that you can reach in one years time," Jim says. Jim also explains that his five year experience on the road with the Hoskins Family has been completely awesome! With 6 Dove Award nominations, numerous number one hits, and a 2005 male vocalist of the year nomination Jim says, "It was a dream come true for me." Jim went on to explain that all of our lives
have seasons, and that he was thankful for the season that he was able to
spend with the Hoskins Family. Jim has performed twice on the main stage
of the Annual Dove Awards, National Quartet Convention, multiple Gaither
Homecoming concerts, Dollywood, and Branson's Silver Dollar City. Also he
has been invited to perform at INSP television, Trinity Broadcasting Network,
Daystar Network, and Gospel Music Television.
Jim makes his home in Chicago, IL where most of his family is from. His
Father, pastor of Free Christian Assembly in Chicago has been one of Jim's greatest influences. Jim takes an active roll in the home church when he can, by leading worship for the services. "I always want to be apart of my home church," Jim explains. He went on to say that you can give and give, but there comes a time when a preacher, singer, or evangelist needs to also
be fed by the Spirit!
So you ask, when will I see Jim on the road again? Will he be traveling with a group? Jim will be back on the road touring this coming spring. Look for Jim to be coming to a city
near you! Keep Jim in your prayers as he travels into a new season of ministry. He is very excited about this call that God has given him.
