She came to limelight in 1995, when her first album "Johanna" was released. She struggled against plagiarism with two of her songs ("Kesäyö" and "Anteeksi") and therefore her album was held back by the record company.
In 1996 Johanna released her second album, "Tahdon" (in English "I Do") and it was more succesful than the previous one. The title song was played in MTV 3 -network's show "Kesähäät" (in English "Summer Wedding") as a theme song. In 1998 Johanna received golden record after selling 30 000 copies.
Later that year she released her third album "Kuka kuivaa kyyneleet" (in English "Who Dries the Tears") and was also one of the writers of the songs. It was critically acclaimed but the buyers disagreed.
In 2002 Johanna took part of Eurovision song contest with a song "Who Cares About A Broken Heart". She became fifth in the semi-finals. She later released that song also in Finnish, naming it "Tää sydän särkyy kerran vaan" (in English "This Heart Will Broken Only Once") and was also noticed by the radio stations.
Her latest album, "Messages of Love", was released in 2001. Currently she lives in Netherlands and has started the international career with the different music.
