He comes from a Jewish family that fled persecution in Germany. He studied to become an otolaryngologyst (i.e., ear, throat, and nose doctor) like his parents but ultimately chose to pursue his passion for music.
Drexler made his full-length album debut with La Luz Que Sabe Robar (1992), followed by Radar (1994). In hopes of furthering his career, he went to Spain in 1995 upon the invitation of legendary singer/songwriter Joaquín Sabina , who showed him around the Madrid music scene and helped him secure an international recording contract. So impressed with Madrid that he chose to make his permanent residency there, Drexler got together with a band of Spanish musicians to re-record material from his first two albums along with new material and release it internationally as Vaivén (1996), the first of four albums on Virgin España. The highlights of Vaivén along with those of its three follow-ups, Llueve (1998), Frontera (1999), and Sea (2001), were later compiled on the best-of compilation La Edad Del Cielo (2004).
Upon his switch to the Dro Atlántic label, Drexler's career reached new heights of success with the critically acclaimed Eco (2004). Most notably, the album includes the Oscar-winning song ''Al Otro Lado Del Río'', which was prominently featured during the closing credits of the Walter Salles film The Motorcycle Diaries (2004).
Eco proved so successful, in fact, that it was re-released with bonus material as Eco² (2005). Subsequent albums include 12 Segundos de Oscuridad (2006), the double-disc live album Cara B (2008), and Amar la Trama (2010).
Todo Se Transforma

Luego el calor movimiento
Luego gota de sudor
Que se hizo vapor, luego viento
Que en un rincón de la rioja
Movió el aspa de un molino
Mientras se pisaba el vino
Que bebió tu boca roja
Tu boca roja en la mía
La copa que gira en mi mano
Y mientras el vino caía
Supe que de algún lejano rincón
De otra galaxia
El amor que me darías
Transformado volvería
Un día a darte las gracias
Cada uno da lo que recibe
Y luego recibe lo que da
Nada es más simple
No hay otra norma
Nada se pierde
Todo se transforma
Todo se transforma
El vino que pagué yo
Con aquel euro italiano
Que había estado en un vagón
Antes de estar en mi mano
Y antes de eso en Torino
Y antes de Torino en Prato
Donde hicieron mi zapato
Sobre el que caería el vino
Zapato que en unas horas
Buscaré bajo tu cama
Con las luces de la aurora
Junto a tus sandalias planas
Que compraste aquella vez
En Salvador de Bahía
Donde a otro diste el amor
Que hoy yo te devolvería
Cada uno da lo que recibe
Y luego recibe lo que da
Nada es más simple
No hay otra norma
Nada se pierde
Todo se transforma
Todo se transforma
Todo se transforma
Todo se transforma
Supe que de algún lejano rincón
De otra galaxia
El amor que me darías
Transformado volvería
Un día a darte las gracias
Porque cada uno da lo que recibe
Y luego recibe lo que da
Nada es más simple
No hay otra norma
Nada se pierde
Todo se transforma
Nada se pierde
Todo se transforma
Nada se pierde
Todo se transforma
Todo se transforma
Todo se transforma
Todo se transforma
Todo se transforma
The song "Todo Se Transforma" by Jorge Drexler is a beautiful and poetic meditation on the cycle of life and love. The lyrics describe how everything in nature follows the same pattern of transformation, where one thing gives rise to another and nothing is ever truly lost. The song begins with the image of a kiss that turns into heat, then into movement, then into sweat, which becomes vapor, then wind. The wind then moves the blades of a mill in La Rioja while someone is treading grapes for wine, which his lover drinks. He realizes that the love that she gives him will one day return to her transformed, and he will be grateful.
The second verse of the song explores the idea of how everything is connected and constantly changing. The euro that he pays for wine has a history that goes back to Prato, where his shoes were made, and Torino, where the train that carried the euro was headed. He will later look for those shoes under his lover's bed, where she keeps her sandals from Salvador de Bahia, where she gave her love to someone else. Now that love has come full circle and is being returned to her.
Overall, the song is a powerful reminder that everything in life is interconnected and that nothing is lost, even when it seems to have disappeared. Whether it is love, time, or energy, everything transforms and becomes something else, giving rise to new life and new beginnings.
