“Josh Rawiri delivers melodies that you can listen to over and over again. “Feel Good” is a great introduction for this singer / song writer with a very bright future”. - Drew Michel, Program Manager & Music Director : MAX
Josh's debut album "If You Need Love" gained critical acclaim, wide radio play, song writing awards and high profile support shows, with over 10,000 albums sold through live touring alone and numerous film and television licensing deals.
Relentless touring since 2008 has built Josh a solid following in rural Australia playing to packed shows in numerous cities and towns across the nation. The album's launch tour saw Josh traverse over 20,000Kms of Australia in just 6 weeks, visiting just about every nook and cranny of this vast country.
In May 2010 Josh collaborated with a team of fresh musicians and producers to record the new album ‘Molecular Teleportation’ - The album’s production marked the beginning of Josh Rawiri’s collaboration with award winning drummer Declan Kelly (Katie Noonan, Guy Sebastian and Michael Franti) and Cello master Anatoli Torjinski (Monseir Camembert, Urban Gypsies) who brings a poignant touch to Josh‘s storytelling.
Josh Rawiri’s distinctive country blues and roots sound has steadily been filtering into the hearts and minds of Australian music lovers. His intricate guitar style and powerful honey ladled voice inspire graceful melodies, deep fluid base lines and strong original structures. Josh has mastered the dobra, lap-slide, cigar box and electric guitars and loves to capture his audience with intriguing loop improvisations.
‘War on religion’ is the next single off the forthcoming album and represents the grass roots/ country aspect of Josh’s sound with a vivid message of ‘strength in numbers‘. The anticipated film clip for 'war on religion' has been quickly picked up by Channel 10’s landed music, Rage and music MAX with the single attracting keen support from both the country and indie music radio sectors with airplay on triple j and major Australian country music networks.
“All I need is a harmonica and a fire listening to Josh and I am set - nice
work.”
- Rosie Beaton, triple j
