Devil, he dragged me down
Devil he dragged me down
Pomegranate seeds and a flower crown
Devil he dragged me down

Momma's been looking for me, yeah
Momma's been looking for me
Stone cold summer dead of spring
Momma's been looking for me

He said will you be mine, I said no sir
I begged let me go and he said no ma'am
I get what i want one way or the other
I'll own your heart and soul my lover
Six feet under

Devil, bargain with me, yeah
Devil won't you bargain with me
Cause i miss the sun
And meadows green
Devil won't you bargain with me ?

Cause the birds they sing no more
The flowers they grow no more
If you let me go come back once more
that's all I'm asking for

He said will be mine, i said yes sir
If you let me go and he said yes ma'am
'Cause i get what I want one way or the other
I'll own your heart and soul, my lover
Six feet under

And flora
How did you get your throne?
You made a deal, traded daffodils for a kingdom of ash and bone

for anyone wondering about the 'cora' part, persephone's real/original name was kore

Actually it wasn't that Poseidon ruled the underworld. In Arcadia times, Poseidon was king of the ocean and the Gods because they mostly dwelled by the sea so it was the biggest part of Greek life. There were four first Gods - Zeus, Demeter, Poseidon and Despoina/Persephone. Zeus of the sky, Demeter of the harvest, Poseidon of the sea. The three most major parts of life. Persephone ruled over the final part of life - death. Before Hades, she was Queen of the dead, and she was the first god (supposedly) to have Epithets. Names have meaning and power, and if you say a name, you'll get the attention of the God. You don't want the god of the dad's attention, hence epithets for Persephone were made - Despoina and Korê. She retired from that position for a while during the Hellenisation period but she is now officially Queen of the underworld along with Hades. Best couple of you ask me, they're the only ones who never cheated. And contrary to popular belief, she was fully in love with Hades and stayed of her own free will.

@Elaina Oke now u made u curious if in the Arcadia times it was Poseidon of the underworld did he then control the underworld AND the sea???

@Elaina this is a very cool explanation. Thank you for writing this.

@GARDEN SHEEP Well what's funny is that a lot of historians believe Persephone was originally a goddess called Despoina. As greek mythology as we know today from an ancient Greek Tribe called Arcadia. There, Demeter also exists in their myths, but those myths claim that Demeter had two daughters: Kore and Despoina; and a "son" horse called Arion. Problem was, while writings said Persephone was instead Kore in these myths, Despoina real name was never revealed as it was a secret. So many people believe that these were actually all the same individual with different counter personalities. This is evident because Despoina's powers/realms deal with literally nature, death and birth. Which is heavily similar into her role in the hymn of Persephone and her kidnapping and her eventual role as Queen of the Underworld. Also because her name Persephone really counters the as being the Goddess of Spring because it's roughly translated as meaning "Bringer of Death"; however, it's not if you consider her also to be Despoina. What's wild is that no matter what, "Persephone" is the only name associated with any of this. "Kore" and "Despoina" are both titles and aren't actual names, one being maiden and the other mistress. Coupled with the fact that Despoina's real name was never revealed in writings AND that she is usually depicted with a veal covering her face, it's almost like Persephone was in fact both Kore and Despoina. Which to many, this makes sense since she deals with the realms of life (birth) and death. I'd argue that Persephone was probably one of thee strongest and more feared goddesses in existence and one of the oldest along with her mother Demeter. Also fun fact: Hades didn't exist for some time, and definitely not during Acardia times. That role was generally taken over by Posiden of the underworld.

@Zoe Apostolidou Proserpina name was Kore it meant Maiden and was still also a title so you're both right

“Kore” means “maiden/little girl,” but “Persephone” means “bringer of destruction.”

Name Persephone was made from merging two words "perse" and "pata"-and the translation for it is "the briginer of death" , at least thats what I've learned long time ago😅

persephone was often called “kore” to avoid getting her attention (underworld god superstition in ancient greece)

I came because I discovered it in the depths of spotify
