The Merriest
June Christy Lyrics

Merry Christmas!
I'd like to fix this bag of tricks
and hand it out with a fleeting greeting:
Smiles for the frowners
Salutes to the uppers
Boosts for the downers
May the day be the bowl of cherriest
And to all, the Merriest!
Hope you swing during the season
Hope your days go great
Hope you find plenty of reasons all year long to celebrate
Sun for the mopers
A laugh for the criers
Luck for the hopers
To the strange and the ordinariest

Me to you, the Merriest!
Thoughts for the musers
A cheer for the winners
Breaks for the losers
To the beats and the debonariest
Greetings like the Merriest!
Hope there's oil under your rosevine
Hope you get that raise
Hope you hope everything goes fine
the next 300 and some odd days
Friends for the loners
A Song for the singers
Grins for the groaners
make the day the nothing can compariest
have the most, the merriest!

One of the BEST holiday songs EVER!!!!

Have you ever heard the Merry Mixxxmas version? It's pretty fat too.

This is the 54th Christmas for THE MERRIEST...  I never get tired of it for all the great memories of past Christmases it brings to me.

Brandon-Alexander Haynes

its my favourite Christmas song, and I love this version! It always makes me cry, isn't that what we all need? A season where the individual things we need/want seem to find their way to us. Hope you all have a great 2013 Holiday season!

Give it time, Mike.   I've been working on that since 1994!  Airplay picks up more every year, licensed YouTube and other social media copies abound, and five covers to date...  Takes time to make standard, but The Merriest by June is published on nearly three dozen compilations.   The song is fast approaching "standard," and some of its' companion songs on June's Christmas album are catching on as well.

This song is so Hip; it should be more well know, June also s-w-I-n-g on it: BRAVO!

I really don't understand why this great song doesn't enjoy the same kind of cultural ubiquity (radio airplay, cover versions, etc.) as, say, Andy Williams' "Most Wonderful Time of the Year".

I mean, it's kind of good in a way, in that we aren't all sick to death of it by now like we are with the latter song. I still don't understand it, though.
