Since its conception as the acoustic solo project of guitarist/vocalist Will Gardner the sound has been constantly moving towards the heavier end of the rock spectrum. 2008 saw the release of The Act and Art of Breathing, a collection of acoustic demos and a few more polished songs written between 2006 and 2007. With Dennis Looze providing live percussion in 2008 and 2009, Jupiter's Incense moved from a bedroom project to a cataclysmic musical force, playing shows all over central Virginia.

In 2010 Gardner started writing material for the follow-up to tAaAoB. The sophomore effort, entitled Beyond Earth, saw a bold move away from the alternative sound of the previous album. With his roots deeply planted in modern rock and metal Gardner sought a thicker wall of sound to convey a more accurate musical persona. Lead guitarist Jody Wolford joined the band in time to lend his vocal talents to "Corsair". Beyond Earth was released on June 14th, 2011.

A band without a rhythm section is a body without a soul- after some searching the two guitarists welcomed Michael Zimmerman (Fire at Will, Decadent Witch) on bass and Todd Pope (Fall Well's Nightmare) on drums. These two smooth operators have breathed new life into both records and brought a distinct style and flavor to the Incense mix.
