After leaving the band in 1979 he released the solo album 'The Way Out' (recorded in the downtime between Homosexuals recording sessions) which was the first of a slew of solo and collaborative releases utilising a dizzying array of pseudonyms (including Amos, Xentos Jones, Narky Brillans, Vic Serf) which were released between 1979 - 1984 on his label It's War Boys. Playing almost of the instruments himself, 'The Way Out' featured many sampled sounds and humming and buzzing. The L is meant to be the mathematical symbol for a right angle and not the letter 'L'.
