Jim Dandy
LaVern Baker Lyrics

Jim Dandy to the rescue!
Jim Dandy to the rescue!
Jim Dandy to the rescue!
Go, Jim Dandy! Go, Jim Dandy!

Jim Dandy on a mountain top.
Thirty thousand feet to drop.
Spied a lady on a runaway horse
Uh huh, that's right, of course.
Jim Dandy to the rescue!
Go, Jim Dandy! Go, Jim Dandy!

Jim Dandy met a girl named Sue.
She was feeling kind of blue.
Jim Dandy he's the kind of guy
Never liked to see a little girl cry.
Jim Dandy to the rescue!
Go, Jim Dandy! Go, Jim Dandy!

Jim Dandy to the rescue!
Jim Dandy to the rescue!
Jim Dandy to the rescue!
Go, Jim Dandy! Go!

Jim Dandy in a submarine
Got a message from a mermaid queen.
She was hanging from a fishing line.
Jim Dandy didn't waste no time!
Jim Dandy to the rescue!
Go, Jim Dandy! Go, Jim Dandy!

Jim Dandy wanted to go to Maine.
Got a ticket on a DC plane.
Mr. Dandy didn't need no chute!
He was hip and ready to boot!
Jim Dandy to the rescue!
Go, Jim Dandy! Go, Jim Dandy!

Go, go go Jim Dandy
Go, go go Jim Dandy
Go, go go Jim Dandy
So long Jim!
Jim Dandy's gone

The original version, and still the best!

@Josh S BOA was a staple party song during our keggers in the 70s.

@THESpaunDrummer all good, I didn't mean it to come off as me saying BOA version was better, just mentioning another version of the song. I had just discovered BOA and this song not long before so I thought maybe others had not yet found it..

@Josh S I have. While Ruby added a lot to their version, (her voice gets stuck in your head) which had a ton of energy. This version is much better IMHO. I found Jim Mangrum's' performance to be adolescent, which wore thin after a few listenings. I do give them credit for taking a song and making it their own, too many bands just mimic on a cover song. I think if you're going to cover something, rearrange it, make it something new and different. The certainly accomplished that. Again, just my 2¢

The very first rock-n-roll queen. Unmatched.

RIP La Verne Baker. I reviewed her concert in Los Angeles. Sadly, she'd been in the Phillippines and contracted gangrene. But her work lives on.

LaVerne Baker was a great clairvoyant. She was phrophesying about the future with this song. She's singing about Jim Dandy, the lead singer of Black Oak Arkansas, greatest frontman in rock history, genius, and shining knight rescuer of women worldwide!! The man is a true hero!!

I grew up with this and still love it!
