She studied the piano at the Conservatoire of Avignon before joining the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique in Paris, where she studied with Bruno Rigutto. At the age of 17 years old, she was unanimously awarded the Conservatoire’s First Prize.
Since then Laure Favre Kahn has performed regularly as a soloist and a chamber musician. She has played with musicians such as Bruno Rigutto, Olivier Charlier, Henri Demaarquette, David Grimal, Renaud Capuccon, Floren Heau, and Patrice Fontanarosa, and she also appeared in various festivals such as the Choregies d’Orange, the festival Chopin in the Bagatelle in Paris, the festival des Jeunes soloistes d’Antibes, the Rencontres Musicales d’Evian, the Flaneries Musicales de Reims, and the Festival de Radio France in Montpellier.
She has been invited to perform by several French orchestras including the Orchestre Symphonique de Nancy, the Orchestre Symphonique de France, l’Ensemble Orchestral de Normandie, the Orchestre de Cannes, L’Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo and l’Ensemble Orchestra de Paris.
Laure Favre Kahn has been a regular guest on various French radio stations such as France Musique, France Culture, and on Frederic Lodeon’s show “Carrefour de Lodeon” on France Inter radio. She has also made a guest appearance on France 3, radio show hosted by Alain Duault. Mezzo TV channel and channel 5 have recently broadcast some of her concerts.
In January, 1999, she performed at the Midem Music Festival in Cannes as one of the “Revelations Classiques de l’ADAMI.”
Laure Favre Kahn has recorded two CD’s for Arion. The first one in 1997 was dedicated to Schumann, and the second one in 1998 to Chopin. The press has unanimously acclaimed the two CD’s.
She has been a Laureate of the Natexis Foundation and is also the artistic director of the Festival des Nuits Musicales du Chateau de Fargues, in Pontet, Vaucluse, Provence since 1997.
