Loreena Isabel Irene McKennitt, CM OM (born February 17, 1957 in Morden, Manitoba, Canada) is a Canadian musician, composer, harpist, accordionist, and pianist who writes, records and performs world music with Celtic and Middle Eastern themes. She is self-managed, self-produced and head of her own record label - Quinlan Road. McKennitt blends world-music with folk, Celtic and exotic Mediterranean sounds using instruments such as the hurdy gurdy, kanoun, uilleann pipes, Turkish clarinet, bouzouki and nyckelharpa alongside traditional instruments like guitar, drums and bass and the harp, piano and accordion, the three instruments she plays.

I love how Ms. Mckennitt can combine such diverse musical elements: Gregorian chant 2:22, Irish Uilleann Pipes 3:40, the Indian Tamboura 2:55 and Spanish castanets 3:10 into a song that works perfectly.

Wonder if anyone has any idea what the heck that warbling almost whistle sounding noise is you hear sort of materialize at about 4:11. It seems to rematerialize a lot higher at about 6:39 as well. Fascinating sound

That's the Arabic Darbouka percussion & Turkish Oud (the guitar often seen in Sufi Whirling Dervish dances), not the Indian Tamboura / Tabla. Spanish Castanets correct, the wooden hand instrument found in Flamenco dances. ^^ Here's the live version of this song.
