Telepathic Humans
Lucy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Waiting for the rain is
Where I feel fine
And then she calls
She wants me again
Now, listen
Don't talk
And I couldn't say it more perfectly
You don't see
You're too far
You're burying me
And you and I wouldn't change
I wanna be your friend sometime
Your pretty pictures float in my mind
The things you said
Were always havin' time
In my life
Waiting for the rain is
Where I feel fine
And then she calls
She wants me again
Now, listen
Don't talk
And I couldn't say it more perfectly
You don't see
You're too far
You're burying me
And you and I wouldn't change
I wanna be your friend sometime
Your pretty pictures float in my mind
The things you said
Were always havin' time
Either way
Now you broke me down
Now I'm dead on the ground
Sending letters
To my door
I'm no longer
Going home
So here I am
So take me
I'm broken into pieces
You're thinking its too far away
I wanna be your friend sometime
The lyrics of Lucy's song "Telepathic Humans" express an intense and complicated relationship. The opening lines indicate that the singer finds solace in waiting for the rain, suggesting that this person appreciates the changing and natural aspects of life. Then, the singer shifts to a relationship with a specific person who is attempting to reconnect. This is where the lyrics become more complex; the singer tells this person to stop talking and simply listen. The singer goes on to say that he/she is being buried by this relationship, indicating that it is suffocating.
The chorus repeats that the singer would not change things between the two of them and that he/she wants to be friends. The lines "your pretty pictures float in my mind" may refer to photographs or memories, further indicating a complicated past. The final lines express perhaps the most intense feeling of the song, as the singer states that they have been broken down into pieces but still want to be close to this person, despite the distance between them.
Overall, the lyrics in Lucy's song "Telepathic Humans" suggest a relationship that is both comforting and suffocating, complicated and intense. They capture the push and pull of human connections and the tension that can exist within them.
