Naked Eye
Luscious Jackson Lyrics

it's not a choice i tried to make
it's not a thought i couldn't take
something told me it was time
to give you yours and leave me mine
my vision started to be clear
i watched the sunlight coming near
i knew the day i knew the night
i knew i could regain my sight
and it feels alright
and it feels alright

with my naked eye
i saw all the falling rain
coming down on me
with my naked eye
i saw all if i said it all
i could see

last night i came into your home
to break some ice and throw some stones
i asked if we could be alone
i had some troubles of my own
knew i had to say goodbye
to all the old things held inside
if i let the moment fly
i knew they'd all be magnified

and it feels alright
and it feels alright

with my naked eye
i saw all the falling rain
coming down on me
with my naked eye
i saw all if i said it all
i could see
with my naked eye
i saw all the falling rain
coming down on me
with my naked eye
i saw all if i said it all
i could see

came around after dark
you are nothing but a lark
know i snuck in like a narc
i knew i had to leave my mark
wanted to be satisfied
i tried to be dignified
wearing nothing is divine
naked is a state of mind

and it feels alright
and it feels alright

with my naked eye
i saw all the falling rain
coming down on me
with my naked eye
i saw all if i said it all
i could see

it feels alright
it feels alright
it feels alright
it feels alright
it feels alright
it feels alright
it feels alright
it feels alright

hey, not to bash any 90s music, but you do realize that the reason you love it so is because you were coming of age duing that time and/or had some significant happening occur during that time that caused you to have a positive association with the era. now you long for a time that is free of stress and worry and rife with possibilities and potential... as we ALL do.

you've idealized your past remembering the good times and glossing over the bad, and that helps you deal with the reality of today's problems since you feel at least you did have something good once and that is something that is better than nothing. meanwhile, you resent today's music because it has taken the place of that music when. rather than accepting that loss, instead you decide that everything now and everyone that likes what is now must be inherently wrong. that sense of smug self-righteousness gives you a raft on which you can float amoung the dangerous unfamilarity and harsh assumed judgements of today's youth.

this happens to EVERYONE. every generation feels their music is better than today's and what's crazy is that they feel it is INHERENTLY better. that it is not just a matter of opinion but of FACT. but hey, it a coping mechanism. we all need em.

as for me, i had a rough time in the 90s. luckily, i found something halfway through that became my raft of sorts that carried me through the rest of the decade, but yeah, even though there was a lot of good music then, it is difficult for me to enjoy it and i certainly do not idealize any of it. you see, it works both ways. when i see 90s style or fashion or hear its music, i feel almost embarrased for having lived through it during such a formative time in my life.

that said, luscious jackson is awesome. this song is awesome. glad you're enjoying it ;)

Pablo, as you have likely suggested, we only have our day. People ask, "How're doin'?" I often say, "I woke up..." And we take it from there... I'd like to think "conservative" is not a ethnicity, culture, or path forward; it's only a sobrique...

Very cool song, though. Excellent vid. I don 't watch vids much, but this is one of the best. Well, this last [email protected] del Segundo

Worst years of my life has everyone forgotten how scary AIDS was as a teenager I'm gen x too growing up in a world where droves of people died horribly and there wasn't shit anybody could do except watch in horror... no thanks to go back in time

I too hated my teens, which is why I can't listen to many music from the 90s.
