Born an interesting mixture of ethnicities including African American, Caucasian, Native American, and Cuban - Maurice embodies the true meaning of diversity, in his background and in his musical creations. At only 6 years old, Maurice's parents endured a harsh divorce, forcing him to take the role as man of the house and take care of his baby sister while mom worked multiple jobs to provide for them. Growing up in the projects didn't hinder his tunnel vision state of mind towards his goals. He initially found solace in athleticsβAmerican football in particular, being recognized as an All-American running back and one of the top recruits of his classβ but with music tugging on his heart it became increasingly hard to pursue both and Maurice decided to leave his scholarships behind to follow his passion in music.
β
Well before his time and all before his first day of High School, "MM" formulated a major business plan and applied for a βSummer Company Grantβ through Ottawaβs City Hall; a grant he was ultimately awarded. This award not only gave the growing star the opportunity to build his own music studio from scratch, but it also allowed the then 14 year-old to seriously enter the music industry as the brainchild of a production and musical engineering business.
β
Maurice Moore established his solo career in the summer of 2013 as a singer, songwriter, producer & engineer. A member of Kehlani's Tsunami Mob collective, the Ottawa-native's music can be heard on airwaves across North America, Australia and Europe, while his verses and hooks are sung by some of your favourite major artists.
The impressive noteworthy list the Black Canadian award nominee has worked with, includes the likes of: Kehlani, Trey Songz, Omarion, Wale, R&B group Immature, 2x Grammy Nominated T-Town Productions (Chris Brown/R.Kelly, "Drown In It") and Grammy Nominated Jerrin Howard (Miguel/Wale, "Lotus Flower Bomb") to name a few. Moore's viral single 'LOL' was also tapped as a sample for Chris Brown's hit single 'Liquor.'
Barely 19, the young artist announced as "8 R&B Artists To Add To Your 2016 Playlist" by Karen Civil and predicted by MUCH alongside The Weeknd, Alessia Cara, Nicki Minaj & Beyonce for "11 Predictions For This Year's Coveted Song Of The Summer." has received many offers from major labels, while being coined as "Canada's Next R&B Star" by CBC Television.
With the DMG brand meticulously guiding this young croonerβs career into international spotlight, the young Stxryteller is without a doubt lifting off to new heights.
