1) Moist is a five-piece Canadian alternative rock band that was popular in the mid-to-late-1990s. The band is led by singer David Usher. Other members of the band are Mark Makoway (guitars), Francis Fillion (drums), Louis Lalancette (bass), Jonathan Gallivan (guitars) and Kevin Young (keyboards). Former members include Jeff Pearce (bass) and Paul Wilcox (drums).
Moist formed in the early 1990s and eventually released an independent cassette in 1993. The cassette caught the attention of EMI, who released their first full-length studio CD, Silver, in 1994. Producer Terry Brown (Rush, Blue Rodeo) was brought in to work on a few of the band's songs, and the album went on to sell 400,000 copies in Canada on the strength of hard-hitting singles like Push, Silver and Believe Me. The follow up, Creature, was released in 1996 to even greater success, with the band's sound maturing and fostering its softer side. A final studio album titled Mercedes 5 and Dime was released in 1999 which was softer and more melancholic than previous releases.
Moist have called off their indefinite hiatus as of September 2013, and released their new single "Mechanical" on May 23rd, 2014.

Push
Moist Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning | Line by Line Meaning
A little bit more than you could ever say
Did you really think that I'd forgotten
Kicked out the windshield
Water coming in
Fade away fade away
Push just a little too late
Is this what you want
What you need
What you wanted me to be
Always loved me strapped to you
Lock it down and drive me through
Tried to give more than you thought I'd take now
Taking more than you could ever say
Push come to shove
You kicked me in the head
You knock me down
I ripped the handle off again
I wanted more than this
Wanted more than this
Fade away fade away
Push just a little too late
Is this what you want
What you need
Is this what you wanted me to be
Always loved me strapped to you
Lock it down and drive me through
Hands gripped to the wheel
Held too tight to feel
Face pressed to the glass
Please don't ask
One breath one more
It's alright
I could give enough
Have enough
Be enough
You could never stand to stay there
Only only only
Fade away fade away
Push just a little too late
Is this what you want
What you need
Is this what you wanted me to be
Always loved me strapped to you
Lock it down and drive me through
Push just a little too late
I wanted more than this
I expected more than this
The opening lines of Moist's song, "Push," express disappointment and frustration with a situation that has escalated beyond what was intended or anticipated. The singer feels trapped in a relationship that demands more than they can give, while their partner fails to acknowledge the extent of the burden. The imagery of kicking out the windshield and water coming in suggests a loss of control and a sense that things are spinning out of hand. The repetition of the phrase "fade away" highlights a feeling of powerlessness and a desire to retreat from the difficulties of the situation.
As the song progresses, the singer expresses a sense of betrayal and emotional pain, while acknowledging that they had tried to give more than their partner had expected or thought possible. The line "Push come to shove / You kicked me in the head" suggests a feeling of being let down and abandoned by someone they had trusted. The chorus, with its repeated questions about what the partner wants and needs, underscores a sense of confusion and uncertainty about the future of the relationship.
The bridge of the song introduces some ambiguity, with images of hands gripped to the wheel and a face pressed to the glass suggesting both a sense of determination and a lack of awareness of what lies ahead. The final lines of the song express a desire for something more, while acknowledging the reality that the relationship is unlikely to provide it.
Overall, "Push" depicts a complex and troubled relationship that is marked by misunderstandings, conflicts, and unfulfilled expectations. The lyrics suggest a feeling of being trapped and suffocated by the demands of the relationship, while also expressing a sense of deep emotional connection and a desire for more.

Back in the day, I ran into David Usher at a laundromat in Kelowna, BC. There was a woman there who also recognized him, and she was absolutely starstruck. While he was folding his clothes, she approached him for an autograph. He handed her a pair of his underwear instead. legendary.
