Everyday Is Like Sunday
Morrissey Lyrics

Trudging slowly over wet sand
Back to the bench where your clothes were stolen
This is the coastal town
That they forgot to close down
Armageddon, come Armageddon!
Come, Armageddon! Come!

Everyday is like Sunday
Everyday is silent and grey

Hide on the promenade
Etch a postcard :
"How I Dearly Wish I Was Not Here"
In the seaside town
That they forgot to bomb
Come, come, come, nuclear bomb

Everyday is like Sunday
Everyday is silent and grey

Trudging back over pebbles and sand
And a strange dust lands on your hands
(And on your face)
(On your face)
(On your face)
(On your face)

Everyday is like Sunday
"Win yourself a cheap tray"
Share some greased tea with me
Everyday is silent and grey

Aaaah Sundays in the eighties. All the shops were shut and city centres were ghost towns. I'd play football in the mornings and then we'd have a roast dinner in the afternoon. You'd read the magazine supplements in the papers, watch Bullseye and then tape the Top 40 on Radio 1 via the 'hi fi.' Great times.

Great memories

Nail it miss those times

Absolutely brilliant times. Sorely missed. Was born in 72. Childhood memories that I will never forget. Taping the top 40 indeed and trying to get the timing right to pause in between songs

Love your description of Sundays from our childhood.

@Paul Brady It was the only live football on at the time when you didn't have Satellite TV.

This song gives me goose bumps and reminds me of being a carefree teenager, feeling excited about life and looking forward to the future. Sunday used to be a special day when the country came to rest for a few hours. Now it is just another stressful day in a greedy and cut-throat world where the mega rich have their feet firmly on our necks..

@Cordy One we will all have
To come over to live in Austria
Then , they were the best days
When all the shops was shut
On sunday.
