He has a desk for writing; at night when all can be heared are the cow, pigs and sheep sleep talking in the distance, Neil will be writing songs, usually in pencil, because it feels better.
As 'Musician in Residence', he plays three times a week at the village pub. The villagers regard him as a travelling minstrel who is bringing a musical energy to this farming community. He's found some brilliant musicians here, such as Jeff the pot wash, who has been playing violin since 7, Leanne from horticulture with a voice like a wild angel, and Ryan from livestock who brings a muddy edge to Neil's usually clean sound. It also helps that his lifelong friend and drummer is involved at the farm. Tha farm band usually come together on Mondays and Saturdays; this small farming town is going to be having a hot summer of music and fun.
Neil's thirteen year journey as a singer songwriter would make for an intersting story; mostly coloured by love affairs with Africa, Japan, Philosophy, Lennon and Austin Powers, but certainly also influenced by his Guyanese, Malaysian, and Indian heratige, loving family, and the chance explosive collision with a few inpirational women. But since his music is so auto-biographical all you really need to do is close your eyes, push play, and let your self be swept along some landscapes of life. I hope you enjoy the ride.
