Heart of Gold
Neil Young Lyrics

I want to live
I want to give
I've been a miner
For a heart of gold
It's these expressions
I never give
That keep me searching
For a heart of gold
And I'm getting old
Keep me searching
For a heart of gold
And I'm getting old

I've been to Hollywood
I've been to Redwood
I crossed the ocean
For a heart of gold
I've been in my mind
It's such a fine line
That keeps me searching
For a heart of gold
And I'm getting old
Keeps me searching
For a heart of gold
And I'm getting old

Keep me searching
For a heart of gold
You keep me searching
And I'm growing old
Keep me searching
For a heart of gold
I've been a miner
For a heart of gold

Man this reminds me of me, but from a son's point of view.

I moved out of my mum's house at 25 and decided to learn to play guitar, which is something I always wanted to do but never got round to it.
I just knuckled down with you tube and tabs and taught myself, but I never told anybody I was learning to play.
Anyway, fast forward 6 years we were at my mum's 60th birthday and the family were celebrating at her house and when I'd plucked enough courage up after a few beers I walked out to my van, grabbed my guitar, brought it inside and sat down and told my mum I had a surprise.
I started to play tears in heaven Eric clapton (no vocals) which is my mum's favourite song, as she lost her son, my brother to cot death at 18 months old, which was 2 years before I was born we didn't get to meet unfortunately.

Anyway I couldnt even finish the song because everybody was just in tears including myself 🤣.
That is the most powerful moment besides the birth of my son, I have ever experienced and I will take it to the grave with me.

Music ❤️

You are watching a man and a guitar and a harmonica move mountains. Sad that the thumbs downers don't even know it.

I am now 73 years old. Was young when this song came out. Would love to live my life over. Would love to fall in love with my wife all over again. I can say I would not change anything. What a wonderful life.

I was born in 76 but I’m not as lucky as you to have been born sooner to have lived during the best times of all music including Neil Young. What a great time to be alive. But I was fortunate enough to be old enough during the 80s and part of the early 90s to enjoy some of the early artists while they were still actively singing. Today’s music doesn’t compare.
