Never thought that I'd be fighting you
But you stole my heart you cheated and lied
You weren't in my corner you weren't on my side
The gloves are off you hit below the belt
Now it's time out baby and they've rung the bell
I'm not a fighter I'm lover but if you run then run for cover
Fight for your love yeah!
When it's around you girl I'm coming out strong
I know when to count you down from ten
I'll find you in my lovin' arms again
The gloves are off you hit below the belt
Now it's time out baby and they've rung they bell
I'm not fighter I'm a lover but if you run then run for cover
Fight for your love yeah!
I'm not a fighter I'm a lover but if you run then run for cover
Fight for your love yeah!
The lyrics to No Vacancy's "Fight" suggest a conflict within a romantic relationship. The singer speaks of being in a "ring of love" with their partner, indicating that love is a battle. The disappointment in the partner's actions is evident as they describe how their love interest "stole [their] heart" and cheated and lied. The singer then goes on to say that the partner was not supportive, as they were not in their corner or on their side.
The gloves are off and the singer has had enough, indicating that they are not usually a fighter but are willing to do so for their love. The line "hit below the belt" implies that boundaries were crossed and disrespect was shown. The bells ringing at the end suggest that the conflict may be over, but not necessarily resolved. The song speaks to the struggles of relationships and the idea that sometimes love requires a fight to make it work.
Overall, the lyrics to "Fight" show the complexity of love and the difficulties that can arise when two people come together. The song speaks to the emotions involved in conflicts and the idea that sometimes, giving up is not an option when it comes to love.
