Creativity, backed up by discipline, led to a successful collective. Totally dedicated to their music they took a leap of faith. Four months after they started writing, enough material had been made to fit almost two albums.
Inspiration through being productive, is something to hold on to, according to the band. “Motown has been a great inspiration to us, when it comes to a specific way of working. We all write, we gather and listen. We only work with what feels right, then work on it some more ‘til it’s a good song.”
Patrick Oehlers joined Nothing Ultra. At this point the band became a solid one, however, expansion
was needed to make it really work. After a couple more auditions Patrick van Vlooten and Robert van
Herk managed to win over the band with fresh sounds and inventive playing. Strong key soundscapes
would really boost the sound of Nothing Ultra.
This group of creative people wants no less than the best. In recording and producing the promo they
relied on people who are as critical as they are to get the music to a higher level. The same standard will be presented on stage. “We want to entertain, to inspire and to be inspired.”
Nothing Ultra’s music has been influenced by a great deal of various musicians. It probably can be best
described as alternative rock. All the way from loud riffs to layered soundscapes. From fragile melodies
and odd time signatures to plain screaming guitars. These elements, together with warm and powerful
vocals, make the sound of Nothing Ultra.
