Oranssi Pazuzu Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
se liikkuu valoa vastaan
Kasvot kuultavat hunnun takaa
käärmeen merkki polttaa käteni nahkaa
Se kohottaa kuun sirpin
pelko häviää
Mustahampainen suu avautuu
ja pimeys ryömii esiin kielen alta
Kuolleet puhuvat
aistit puhkeavat
olen nähnyt tien viimeiseen kalmistoon
Käärmeet puhuvat
kädet tottelevat
olen nähnyt tien puhdistavaan tuleen
The lyrics of Oranssi Pazuzu's Ilmestys describe a dark and eerie scene where the singer sees a shadow rising from a source, likely a well or a spring. The shadow moves towards the light and the singer describes seeing a face behind a veil, with the mark of a snake burning their skin. As the moon crescent rises, the singer's fear dissipates. A mouth full of black teeth opens and darkness emerges from beneath the tongue. The dead speak, the senses awaken, and the singer has seen the path to the final graveyard. Snakes speak, hands obey, and the singer has seen the path to purifying fire.
The lyrics seem to depict a moment of transcendence or spiritual awakening that is achieved through a confrontation with darkness. The imagery is rich and vivid, with symbols of death, rebirth, and the occult. The theme of transformation and the duality of light and dark run throughout the song. The singer seems to have undergone a transformative experience that has led them to recognize the power of darkness and to align themselves with it.
