2. Patrick Bell
Patrick Bell's music is woven from samples, field recordings, stories, doctored solo instrumentals, layered up and woven into Patrick's own playing, using a number of different instruments.
A track, "Dance of the Platyhelminthes" from Bell's 2nd album, "Away From Anywhere" was featured onBBC Radio 3's Late Junction and also appears on Various: UP12 Bloody Amateurs.
Patrick also collaborated with Dan Rickwood aka Stanley Donwood on http://www.6inchrecords.com/
Travel Notes was inspired by travels around Europe and beyond and many of the tracks are heavily based around field recordings taken on these travels.
Patrick's move to the Orkney Islands saw a distinct folkiness creep into Away From Anywhere and then Beacons.
Between these two instrumental song long players was "Tales of the Finfolk", a playful piece of musical fiction inspired by the Orcadian legen of the "Selkie", a magical creature part human and part seal.
