By the age of 14 the Berlin wall fell down and life in East Germany completely changed. In that time shortly before the so called reunion took place, which in fact was an 100 percent entry into the western system of the separated territory, Pauler experienced a lot of new alternative and free ways of life - summarized: the real freedom in chaotic and anarchist times. But the freedom didn't rest for long and the chancelor Helmut Kohl of West Germany fooled the unexperienced socialist society of East Germany, which was freed peacefully by itself and the passive policy of the Russian president Gorbatchev, by promising a quick reformation of currency. The people blindly followed this policy not knowing about the dependencies of their values and the existing east german industrial infrastructure which now was free accessable to the capitalist lobbies. The following years opened Paulers eyes and ears to the political dramatic circumstances the new system has brought up to his people. Frustrated by the capitalist unsocial and violent behaviour, killing cultural places, spreading lies about the former system, executing former RAF members which where hiding in the eastern part of Germany, closing factories and independent radio stations and robbing the country, Pauler very early started to take part at political engagements as strongly as possible.
In the early 90s he discovered all the old records of the 60s and 70s and started to listen to Jimi Hendrix, Herbie Hancock and Miles Davis and all the other uncountable great musicians of that time. Influenced by the hippie music Pauler stepped into appearance within a lot musical projects of different Genres like Funk, Acid Jazz, Fusion.
Later in the end of the 90s Pauler more and more jumped into the scene of marijuana consuming subcultures around in the area. Listening to their music Pauler soon came in touch with Trip Hop, Ambient, Dub, Drum'n'Bass influences which accompanied his musical creativity through the next years.
Through all theese musical genres there was one that combined all of them - Reggae. Being there allready in the 60s and staying alive through all times Reggae was the bridge , which to pass was a must. It took an important place for musicians, producers and DJs. It brought together ideology, philosophy, religion, life style, music, politics, rationality and feeling.
Carefully listening to the lyrics of Rastafarian artists Pauler soon digged out a lot of common things in philosophy and life style of the Rastafarians with his political opinion, his social experiences and his dreams. Similar to them Pauler sees himself as a person whom was stolen the country he belongs to.
But raised as atheist he from the beginning also was aware of a lot differences to the religious dogmatism of Rastafarian movement, which in his eyes from time to time turns out to become religiously inconsistent and racial exclusive ... lots of things to be sayed by other Rastafarians where becoming more and more the Babylonian way, they where whailing on themselfes.
In order of rescueing the good and righteous paths of the Rastafarian philosophy it just was a matter of time, when Pauler started to write his own island style songs about his political points of view and the fight against the wrong leading words from within the good movements.
The message of his music is mostly the same message so many others have lost their words on. Paulers lyrics preach for consciousness, for thruthfulness and righteousness, for love and positive vibrations, for coming together, helping each other and surviving that babylonian mess without becoming like it.
Keeping it real is one of the most important things to Pauler and so he decided to keep his lyrics in his mother tongue.
Experimental electronical sound generators and beat machines, filters, echoes and reverb effects mixed up with live recorded and looped instruments of all kind turned out to be the backbone of his musical performances.
At the moment he is working on his german language dub sound project, which should come upon stage by spring 2010.
