After playing in several bands separately the group was brought together to expand on what were originally acoustic songs before going on to write heavier, more energetic songs.
The band rarely specify which genre the lie in, but for the moment are happy with a mix of sleazy rock, alt and metal. With influences including Deftones, Alanis Morrissette, Metallica, Depeche Mode, The Cure, My Ruin, Porcelain and the Tramps, Terry Reid, The Doors, Dir en Grey, and Lynard Skynard to mention just a handful, theres a decent amount of diversity in their energetic live shows to please a wide audience.
Their first demo "dear John..." was recorded in Autumn '09 at Red Eye Studios, featuring "Gutter Girl", "Insomniac", "Flatline" and "Voices". Although not mass released you can pick it up at most of their live shows still.
Before Perfect Violation, Lexx played bass in "Leech" and "Aprils Last Chance", the latter supporting Alkaline Trio at the Barrowlands. Chris Smith played bass in local punk outfit "Veda", one of the biggest names in the local scene at that time, supporting Madcaddies among others.
AJ, Ian, Urkit and Kieran all played in various bands together and apart, with AJ, Ian and Urkit moving from the ashes of "Morvine" (supporting Biffy Clyro alongside Veda) to "Courlotopia" before a name change and minor line-up switch to "Mydyz Touch", at which point Urkit moved from drumming to vocals. During this time Kieran played guitar for "Too Young To Care", playing several gigs along the way with both Veda and Mydyz, and supporting Alexisonfire.
TYTC and Mydyz eventually both disbanded, with Ian going on to play for "Djinn" and later "Daedalian". Kieran and Urkit began jamming together under the name "Demasiado" before once more disbanding.
Not long after this Lexx and AJ discussed forming a new band, and began working on acoustic songs Lexx had written solo. Early sessions were mostly Lexx on guitar and vocals, AJ on bass, and friend Joe Schmidt on second guitar. The hunger for a heavier sound was constantly there though, and so the first real heavy song was written after it was decided Urkit would do male vocals. "Ready for Anything" was written in a few days after AJ was messing around with the riff, and (after waking up from a dream of poisonous ex's) wrote a poem, which after some work by Lexx and Urkit would later become the lyrics. With this, they recorded their first demo track at Joe's. While the bass and vocals were all there, all other guitars and drums were put down on midi by Joe Schmidt, but it was enough to impress Chris, Ian and Kiez enough to join the band.
After a few months of practice sessions and constant writing, the six-piece played their first gig at Ivory Blacks in Glasgow, a familiar haunt for most of the band from their early incarnations. It went even better than expected, and so their real story began.
