Self-described as 'Speed Folk', their fast, powerful rhythms and joyful Celtic melodies have become their trademark over the years, wrapped together in pagan poetry with a strong message of freedom and joy.
The music of PerKelt blends together a rhythmic synergy of drums and guitars, signature duels between fiddle and recorder, haunting pagan vocals, and the deep ethnic sound of didgeridoo. The band draws their inspiration from paganism of all kinds, with their songs often telling stories from magic, nature and traditional medieval folk tales.
Currently – as of 2021 – the band consists of Paya Lehane (recorder, vocals, percussion), Stepan Honc (guitar, vocals), Duncan Menzies (fiddle, vocals), David Maurette (drums, percussion) and Jay Fraser (sliding didgeridoo, vocals). They have four critically acclaimed albums released to date:
2011: Musica Mardania
2013: Dowry of a Troll Woman
2016: Dancer in the Wind
2019: Air and Fire
