Phil's awards include Best Instrumental in the Australian Songwriting Awards 2007, Best Male Vocalist in the ABC Newcastle Music Awards 2003, an Honourable Mention in the USA Songwriting Competition 2003, and Best Instrumental Composition in the ABC Newcastle Music Awards 2005.
In 2005 He co wrote and produced Marty Worralls (ex Australian Idol) single “One Day”, which charted for 15 weeks in Australia, and featured on Video Hits and Rage.
His current studio clientelle include Sellaband (Dutch net based record label), John Fergusson (singer/songwriter), Vegas Dragons (Sydney metal band), Tiffany Gow (rock songstress), MissA (Newcastle Dance sensation), Wild Rose (Perth singer/songwriter), Harrigans Irish Pub, Penton's Hair Salon, Faith Bible College, Turn Around Music, Hunter Valley Gardens (winner NSW Tourism Awards for last four years), Louise Crosdale (opera singer), Rebecca Boyce (Newcastle singer songwriter), KAM (Newcastle singer songwriter), Jonothan Cooper (Newcastle singer songwriter), Celeste Baissari (Sydney singer songwriter), Angela Yoong (Sydney Singer/Songwriter), Joanna Melas (Sydney Singer/Songwriter) The Playtapes (winner of Tahlee Battle of the Bands) and BizXcel.
In 2003 he was Musical Director in Kathmandu, Nepal for the 50th anniversary celebrations marking the climbing of Mount Everest in front of 10000 people. In 2005 , he was Musical Director for Hunter Harvest, where he led a 200 voice choir and 3 separate bands, singing and playing to record crowds (28000) at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre, over 4 nights. In 2007 he was Musical Director for Speers Point Carols in front of 15000 people, and in 2007, 2008 and 2009 he was Musical Director for Carols in the Gardens, in the Hunter Valley performing to a crowd of 10000.
Phil is an experienced live performer both as a solo artist, and fronting a band. He has performed to packed houses at The Basement (Sydney iconic jazz venue) and many other venues in Sydney and the Hunter Valley. In 2009 he played at Jazz Upstairs in Kathmandu, and at the Bamboo Bar Jazz club in Bangkok. The band regularly performs for Mars Foods, USANA and CAP corporate functions. His primary band lineup consists of Jeremy Barnes—guitar (Fastest guitarist in the world – 44 notes in one second), Mitch Farmer (One of Australia's most sought after drummers – too many credits to list) and Joe Manton-bass (Montreaux Jazz Festival, Manly Jazz festival). His other band members include Pete Drummond, Jay Gale, Dieter Kleeman and David Pudney. He boasts a large selection of original jazz/funk/pop material, as well as a comprehensive repertoire of covers and jazz standards.
He has worked with Crystal Lewis, Rick Price, Jay Lagaia, Jon Stevens, Anthony Callea, Marty Worrall and Darlene Zschech. Phil and his wife Jodi have also written children's songs that have been distributed across Australia to primary schools, and have been signed to ABC publishing for distribution to all Australian primary schools through the ABC 'Sing' series.
He has released two albums – the multi award winning live recording “How 'Bout That” and the solo piano vocal album “Perfect Situation”.
