Frasqueri recorded her first song, "Destiny", in 2010, and released it under the name of Wavy Spice on her SoundCloud and her YouTube channel in mid-2012. It was largely autobiographical and gained modest popularity. Subsequently, she released her second track, "Bitch I'm Posh". The track went viral, and as of December 2017, received 110,000 plays on Soundcloud. Frasqueri then released YAYA, which was a commentary of perceptions of colonial history. Frasqueri continued to release singles, such as Dragons, a Game of Thrones inspired piece, Honeysuckle, and Vicki Gotti until changing her moniker to Princess Nokia. She released her mixtape, 1992, on Soundcloud. She also began touring.
Frasqueri was praised for her feminism, especially after confronting a man yelling racial slurs on a subway train. She also founded the Smart Girls Club, a podcast where she discusses healthy living and "urban feminism".
Frasqueri claims Princess Nokia is an alter ego, which she introduced with the track "Nokia". She released an album named Metallic Butterfly on May 12, 2014, and was debuted on Vice and Soundcloud.
On September 8, 2017, she released her debut studio album, 1992 Deluxe, which was an expanded version of her 2016 mixtape, 1992. It peaked at number 25 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart. NME listed it as the 32nd best album of 2017.
Nokia also has debuted a new radio show on Apple's Beats 1 Radio on February 18, 2018. She has a total of 6 episodes labeled, "The Voices in My Head with Princess Nokia."

I like him
Like him too
He my man
He my boo
He my type
He so cute
I want him
And I want him too
I like him
Like him too
He my man
He my boo
He my type
He so cute
I want him
And I want him too
Hop in the whip, hop in the truck
I do whatever the fuck that I want
I'm not a ho, I'm not a slut
I like to fuck and I sure like to suck
I am that bold, freezy like ice
I'm not a wife so talk to me nice
You ain't my type, I don't like you
You a broke boy, look at your shoes
I am the player and I am the pimp
All of them boys, make 'em the trick
All of them boys, they on my shit
But all of them boys, they make me sick
I do not see you taming me
'Less them, they're entertaining me
They just tryna p-play with me
Play with me, you gon' pay the fee
I like him
Like him too
He my man
He my boo
He my type
He so cute
I want him
And I want him too
I like him
Like him too
He my man
He my boo
He my type
He so cute
I want him
And I want him too
Dibble in this, and dibble in that
Get in his head like I am a brat
Play with his balls when he up to bat
Make daddy real proud like I'm Kyla Pratt
I'm taking a shower, he making the bed
When I leave the city, I leave him on read
Go get the next, like I get the bread
He coming with questions, I call him the Feds
He let me plead the fifth
'Cause he know this box a gift
Eating breakfast not at Tiff'
When I curve him he get stiff
I go beast mode
Ball like free throw
Game like cheat code
Pounds like kilo
I like him
Like him too
He my man
He my boo
He my type
He so cute
I want him
And I want him too
I like him
Like him too
He my man
He my boo
He my type
He so cute
I want him
And I want him too
I do not see you taming me
'Less them, they're entertaining me
They just tryna p-play with me
Play with me, you gon' pay the fee
The lyrics of Princess Nokia’s “I Like Him” demonstrate her unapologetically sexual and confident attitude towards relationships. She openly declares her interest in a man and claims him as both her man and her boo, while emphasizing her attraction to his physical appearance. Princess Nokia challenges traditional norms of femininity by openly discussing her sexual desires and pleasing her own needs rather than conforming to societal expectations.
Additionally, she asserts her dominance in the relationship by making it clear that she will not be tamed or controlled by anyone. She asserts her independence by stating that she does whatever she wants and has the power to choose which men she wants to be with. In the chorus, she repeats the phrase “I like him” multiple times, both emphasizing her attraction to the man and asserting her autonomy in choosing who she is with.
Overall, “I Like Him” is an anthem of female empowerment and taking control of one’s own desires and relationships.
