Public Access (1) was an aggressive 5 piece ska-punk band from Albany, NY, formed in 2000.
The final lineup includes founding members Jay Bonafide (guitar/vocals) and Chris Jordan (vocals/baritone saxophone), with Matt Elia (vocals/tenor sax), Bob Watson (bass guitar) and Joe Bortscheller (drums)
They have four releases, an Eponymous EP, "Please Throw Money" EP, "Fleeced" EP, and "Hindsight" EP. On January 14, 2008, they announced that their upcoming EP, "Hindsight", will be the band's last release, and that they intend to play CD release/farewell shows that spring in New York and Connecticut.
Since their breakup, members have gone their own ways. Bortscheller now plays drums for Young and Divine
Public Access (2) is an instrumental band based throughout the midwest. Headquartered in Grand Rapids with outposts in Chicago, Milwaukee, Traverse City, and Marquette, Public Access boasts a variety of musicians. Public Access draws its inspiration from the searing guitars of Brian May and David Gilmour to the sultry sax tones of Paul Desmond, and all the way to the rhythm of Four Tet and the synth of Daft Punk. At first glance with six guitars on stage, many have expected non stop improvisation and musicians vying for volume, however plan on the contrary, melodic cooperation. These musicians gather for the benefit of the listener. They abide by the old adage 'a rising tide lifts all ships' and when it comes to music, this jumpsuit clad clan will help you rise out of your seat and onto the dance floor.
