Along with several others including Jackie St. Croix, Jeff Scott and Susan Hickey, future GBS members Sean McCann, Bob Hallet, and Darrell Power played mostly in pubs around St. John's, Newfoundland. Rankin Street played mainly traditional songs such as "I'm the B'y," "Finnegan's Wake," and "Ferryland Sealer" - several of these were revisited and re-recorded with new instrumentation in later years. Rankin Street disbanded in the early nineties when Alan Doyle joined and the group reorganized to form Great Big Sea.
