People comparing Gravity to Interstellar are missing the point entirely. Quite literally an apples-to-oranges comparison fallacy. Just because the two movies are sci fi (and Gravity really is not true SF since it doesn't imagine any technology we don't already have), doesn't make them remotely similar. Interstellar is a relatively sedate "big-story" sci fi epic. Gravity is an intimate character portrait coupled with an action-adventure thriller. Two very different kinds of movie. Thinking they are somehow comparable, just because both are set in space, is naive.

They're both excellent movies that are very effective at achieving their very different goals. Interstellar's goal is to make you think. Gravity's goal is to make you care.

What a mind blowing movie. People are getting confused in genre of these 2 movies. Gravity is more of a survival thriller while interstellar is more of a sci-fi. Gravity leans more to the reality comepared to the interstellar because mainly its plot is happening in a space which is actually very much familiar with the modern humanity. So not much assumptions are to be made. So it helps up in adding the tension to the movie.

Interstellar is a movie that took some liberties in assumptions still trying to be as accurate as they could. This is mainly because it's plot is comparatively more large and covers vast still to be completely known areas and ideas of space. But they used this elaborate plot to explore the deep theme of the movie i.e. the connection that science has with humans emotion of love which they did magnificently.

The only common factor of these 2 movies is that they are in space and the background works of the movies such as camera, bgm , acting, editing all are done in the best way to support these movies in their respective themes.

I just saw it again in my OLED TV, that's the shit. I think a lot of people don't understand this movie is actually a Drama movie in space rather than a Thriller Science Fiction movie. If they had pushed it as such perhaps the appreciation would have been higher with fewer Star Wars, Alien, Apollo 13, 2012, etc. fans expecting something it was never intended to be. In my opinion it's a fantastic movie, one of my favorites ever.

I loved Gravity and i loved interstellar. But the fact that they're both in space doesnt mean they can be comparable. Actually Gravity is more of an action movie and interstellar is a Hard sci-fi movie. That's why the plot in gravity is a shit compared to interstellar. When this came out in the movie theaters I couldn't make it. Shortly after my film professor at uni mentioned we should only watch it at the theatre to get the full, real experience. This was in 2013.

@chsxtian It was entirely what happened. Moving the Hubble and the Chinese space station to the same orbit isn't really all that implausible. The physics were only really broken in two particular scenes: during reentry, and that awful tethering scene with Clooney.

They are much better than the average movie, sir. I encourage you to think about them that way. Unexpected Journey was slow in some parts but still an entertaining fantasy adventure. Desolation of Smaug was amazing but has a little too much action and some ridiculous moments that arent even near possible, but still a much better movie than the first. I hope Peter Jackson delivers a Return of The King-style of finale in December.

The film that I'll forever regret never having seen at the movie theater. Watching it on my tv screen with an amazing sound system was pretty impressive I can't even imagine what it would've been on a huge theater screen 😢💔

Impressive the amount of haters coming here specifically to hate on this movie......and I ask myself why? Could it be because it was a huge academy award winner with 7 Oscars, of course!

Idiots will hate, just like it is no coincidence Birdman is too getting a lot of hate just because it won best picture.

I don't care what other people think, I thought this was a stunning movie with breathtaking graphics and an absolutely incredible soundtrack that I still listen to again and again.

I will definitely watch it again.
