* Walter Schreifels - vocals, guitar
* Cache Tolman - bass
* Sam Siegler - drums

The band decided to start a series of EPs where multiple groups form a single band and they looked to Jonah Matranga formerly of Far, New End Original and Gratitude. The lone result was titled Rival Schools United by Onelinedrawing, released on 24th July 2001. Their full-length album titled United By Fate was released on 28th August the same year on Island Records. Shortly after the release of United By Fate, the band released their first single, Used for Glue. The second single released from the album was Good Things. Both releases enjoyed heavy rotation on MTV, both in the US and UK.
Ian Love left the band in 2002, and played as part of an Experimental-Rock band named Cardia, releasing an eponymous album in 2003.
A second album was expected for spring/summer 2003, but it did not surface. However, the master tapes of the album were leaked onto the internet, comprised of eleven tracks:
01- Just a Second
02- The Perspective Reach
03- I Don't Know
04- Your Answer
05- See What You Got
06- Looking
07- Don't Change
08- Shared Information
09- Surrendering Position
10- Seems So Real
11- Get Out of This Place
Rival Schools parted ways in September 2003. Schreifels formed a new band called Walking Concert, releasing an album in 2004. The second album will now be released sometime in 2006.
Sammy Siegler joined Nightmare of You and briefly provided percussion for Limp Bizkit.
The band reformed for shows in Summer 2008 and a new album is expected.
The band was originally named Rival Schools United by Fate, after a video game, but due to legal reasons had to change their name to just Rival Schools.

Traces of conscience you don't want to hear
You hear it now
You listen, hear a sound
You missed it
Taken by conscience or taken by guilt
You live in the problems you decided to build
You hear it now
You listen and hear a sound that can't be still
The blame is found, you got it
Rode when she was new
You're used for glue
Yeah
Dazed for time you were into
Praise from the crowd that you wanted to fool
You call them now, they're waiting
To hear a sound that can't be still
The blame is found, you got it
Rode when she was new but wasn't told when she was through
Yeah
Listen to a sound that can't be still
The blame is found, you got it
Rode when she was new but wasn't told when she was through
Yeah
The lyrics of Rival Schools' song "Used For Glue" explore the feelings of guilt and consequences that arise from past actions. The first few lines set the stage by describing a person who has gone through numerous conflicts and carries guilt they don't want to confront. The repetition of "you hear it now" adds a sense of urgency, like the person is finally realizing the weight of their actions. The verse goes on to describe how the person is living with the problems they created - this could be interpreted as either literally or metaphorically. Perhaps they're struggling with the fallout of a particular situation, or maybe they're more broadly living with the consequences of their life choices.
The chorus is a bit more opaque, simplifying things to the phrase "you're used for glue." This could be interpreted in many different ways, but one possibility is that the person feels like a tool that others have used to stick their lives together - maybe as a support system, a scapegoat, or a punching bag. The second verse introduces the idea of the person being praised by others, but with a sense of unfulfillment. Again, there's a repetition of the idea of "hearing a sound that can't be still." This time, it seems like the person is searching for some kind of redemption - perhaps through making music or art - and they're hoping to find it in the waiting crowd.
The chorus repeats again, but with a slight tweak in the second line: "Dazed for time you were into / Praise from the crowd that you wanted to fool." This change suggests that the person was initially in a state of confusion, and that they were trying to deceive the crowd into thinking they were something they weren't. Maybe they were putting on a brave face while their life was falling apart, or maybe they were hiding some deeper truth about themselves. Either way, they're now facing the consequences of their actions and realizing that they can't hide from the truth any longer.
Overall, "Used For Glue" is a song about coming to terms with the past and realizing that actions have consequences. The repeated lines create a sense of urgency and repetition that underscores the idea that the person can't escape their own guilt. The chorus is a little more metaphorical, but it could be seen as a way of saying that the person feels like they're being used and discarded by others.
