Feelin' Good Again
Robert Earl Keen Lyrics

Standin' down on Main Street across from Mr. Blues
In my faded leather jacket and my weathered Brogan shoes
A chill north wind was blowin' but the spring was comin' on
As I wondered to myself Just how long I had been gone

So I strolled across old Main Street
Walked down a flight of stairs
Stepped into the hall and saw all my friends were there
A neon sign was flashin', "Welcome, come on in"
It feels so good feelin' good again

My favorite band was playin' an Otis Redding song
When they sang the chorus everybody sang along
Dan and Margarita were swayin' side by side
I heard they were divorcin' but I guess they let it slide
And I wished I had some money
With which to buy a round

I wished I'd cashed my paycheck before I came to town
But I reached into my pocket found three twenties and a ten
It feels so good feelin' good again

There was old man Perkins sittin' on his stool
Watchin' Butch and Jimmy John talkin' loud and playin' pool
The boys from Silver City were standin' by the fire
Singin' like they thought They were the Tabernacle choir

And I wanted you to see 'em all I wished that you were there
I looked across the room and saw you standin' on the stair
And when I caught your eye I saw you break into a grin
It feels so good feelin' good again

I wanted you to see 'em all I wished that you were there
I looked across the room and saw you standin' on the stair
And when I caught your eye I saw you break into a grin
It feels so good feelin' good again
It feels so good feelin' good again

The future is uncertain the present is already going on so you can't focus on anything in it that's why the past will always be the happiest and saddest thing you can ever know I'm glad you can find happiness after her passing that is truly a rare thing I hope you always remember how she made you feel when she smiled at you if it's anything like how I feel about my woman and it's a hell of a Feeling I've never found anything that can match it if you ever read this comment dude and you don't mind I would like to know her name to know who to pray for but I know that's rather forward of me it just really hit me what you said the first girl I ever loved was killed when she was 16 her name was crystal

I survived open heart surgery in 2010 and this song will always represent how I felt returning to normalcy. I can’t describe how much it means to me

Bob you and I are kindred spirits. My heart surgery ended me in the hospital for 2 months in 2010. Hope all's well still. ❤️

Exactly how I felt after a two month hospital stay, learning to walk again, and rehabbing enough to go home. Every day is a gift

My son was diagnosed with cancer at 11 months old back in 2011. I heard this song sometime in the middle of one of his chemo treatments and it made me realize that one day all this this that's going on right now will pass and I'll be able to look BACK on the hardest time in my life instead of living it day by day. It brought me so much hope! He made it through it all and now it's like it never happened (except for the scars from the surgeries).

When I'm singing along with it, I now substitute the line "A neon sign was flashin' 'Welcome Come on in'" with
"I can't believe you made it all the way to age 10! It feels so good, feeling good again!"

Thank you REK for such a great song!
