He has had 10 number-one albums and 31 top ten singles in the UK, six of which reached number one. Stewart has had 16 top ten singles in the US, with four reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100. He was knighted in the 2016 Birthday Honours for services to music and charity.
Stewart's music career began in 1962 when he took up busking with a harmonica. In 1963, he joined The Dimensions as a harmonica player and vocalist. In 1964, Stewart joined Long John Baldry and the All Stars before moving to the Jeff Beck Group in 1967. Joining Faces in 1969, he also maintained a solo career releasing his debut album that year. Stewart's early albums were a fusion of rock, folk music, soul music, and R&B. His third album, 1971's Every Picture Tells a Story, was his breakthrough, topping the charts in the UK, US, Canada and Australia, as did its ballad "Maggie May". His 1972 follow-up album, Never a Dull Moment, also reached number one in the UK and Australia, while going top three in the US and Canada. Its single, "You Wear It Well", topped the chart in the UK and was a moderate hit elsewhere.
After Stewart had a handful more UK top ten hits, the Faces broke up in 1975. Stewart's next few hit singles were ballads with "Sailing", off the 1975 UK and Australian number-one album, Atlantic Crossing, becoming a hit in the UK and the Netherlands (number one), Germany (number four) and other countries, but barely charting in North America. A Night on the Town (1976), his fifth straight chart-topper in the UK, began a three-album run of going number one or top three in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia with each release. That album's "Tonight's the Night (Gonna Be Alright)" spent almost two months at number one in the US and Canada, and made the top five in other countries. Foot Loose & Fancy Free (1977) contained the hit "You're in My Heart (The Final Acclaim)" as well as the rocker "Hot Legs". Blondes Have More Fun (1978) and its disco-tinged "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" both went to number one in Canada, Australia and the US, with "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" also hitting number one in the UK and the top ten in other countries. Stewart's albums regularly hit the upper rungs of the charts in the Netherlands throughout the 70s and in Sweden from 1975 onward.
After a disco and new wave period in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Stewart's music turned to a soft rock/middle-of-the-road style, with most of his albums reaching the top ten in the UK, Germany and Sweden, but faring less well in the US. The single "Rhythm of My Heart" was a top five hit in the UK, US and other countries, with its source album, 1991's Vagabond Heart, becoming, at number ten in the US and number two in the UK, his highest-charting album in a decade. In 1993, he collaborated with Bryan Adams and Sting on the power ballad "All for Love", which went to number one in many countries. In the early 2000s, he released a series of successful albums interpreting the Great American Songbook.
In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked him the 17th most successful artist on the "Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists". A Grammy and Brit Award recipient, he was voted at No. 33 in Q Magazine's list of the Top 100 Greatest Singers of all time. As a solo artist, Stewart was inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006, and he was inducted a second time into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of Faces.

Maggie May
Rod Stewart Lyrics
Wake up, Maggie, I think I got somethin' to say to you
It's late September and I really should be back at school
I know I keep you amused, but I feel I'm being used
Oh, Maggie, I couldn't have tried any more
You led me away from home
Just to save you from being alone
You stole my heart and that's what really hurts
The mornin' sun when it's in your face really shows your age
But that don't worry me none, in my eyes, you're everything
I laughed at all of your jokes, my love, you didn't need to coax
Oh, Maggie, I couldn't have tried any more
You led me away from home
Just to save you from being alone
You stole my soul, and that's a pain I can do without
All I needed was a friend to lend a guiding hand
But you turned into a lover, and mother, what a lover, you wore me out
All you did was wreck my bed, and in the morning, kick me in the head
Oh, Maggie, I couldn't have tried any more
You led me away from home
'Cause you didn't wanna be alone
You stole my heart, I couldn't leave you if I tried
I suppose I could collect my books and get on back to school
Or steal my daddy's cue and make a living out of playin' pool
Or find myself a rock and roll band that needs a helpin' hand
Oh, Maggie, I wished I'd never seen your face
You made a first-class fool out of me
But I'm as blind as a fool can be
You stole my heart, but I love you anyway
Maggie, I wished I'd never seen your face
I'll get on back home one of these days
Ooh, ooh, ooh

Sad, your father not speaking anymore, in that way it's hard to talk about reminiscing the times, good AND bad times. I've heard two lines, long ago, that make think about my parents.
1 your loved one is not dead aslong you find a ways to remember your father. And...
2 a person is passed as they don't mention its name any more.
I don't know. I'm not a spiritualist nor religious. I always say to my wife that when I am dead I will find out, ... I will find out if there is a life after or it is all a hope in a religion to DO believe of a life after to see our loved ones back. Death is a part of existence a part of being born, but to me, now! Finished is finished, over is over and dead is really dead.
And it flips me out because I would like to live for ever, since my childhood I think like that. The problem is I am 62, man, and thinking that it's just a little time rest for me now.
What I try to say is I hope there is a life after so you ánd your family will all be together again and about your father I feel, felt, that it IS a good man. I hope, I really do for you, that if you feel like you want to cry than cry. There is no shame in crying over a lost. But I do hope you will feel better in time and don't oppressed your feeling at any moment.
A man is allowed to cry, in fact you have too. It will not feel better because, well,... you know. Feeling. In everything you do there is feeling. I wanted to say more but, not a good idea you know?!
I mean, boooring.
I didn't even looked at your name & if you are a man or a woman.
Anyways, do what you feel you need to do.
Try to stay good and,...and you know.
It's always difficult to say the perfect words in moments as this.

driving thru LA in the sunset oh whats that my dear youre upset?
dont mind me im just buying some time with a little help from my friends
you want some space enough said
I rather reside by the beach and go all week without your need
You sure did your best to throw everything away
but I dont mind its all okay
Yea you heard me Ill be okay
Love is far from my reach and I know I shouldnt look much further
For there is no such thing
I cant never win with a foolish person such as yourself
May I remind you wealth never mattered
You thought I would beg for u baby Im flattered
Im gone with the wind like theres no tomorrow
Gotta keep searching for that one special gal
Not a tattle tale who is full of pride when they want everything to do with a bride

In my opinion, one of the greatest rock songs ever written. Rod sings it like it's really happening and he's really feeling all those things.

This song makes me choke up. The night before my Dad passed, I suggested to Mom to play some of his favorite songs. He wasn’t speaking anymore. Movements were few. But as soon as the song started, he smiled, lifted his arm and pointed at the wall. The wall was filled with Beatles memorabilia, but high in the corner… he had this album cover hung up above the window.
I miss you Pops.

@Edward Spanjer I don't want to be someone annoying who spreads religion everywhere without a care in the world, but maybe if that is how you feel, an idea would be to give your life to Jesus soon, since if there is life after death, that'll be good. If not, then there's no need to worry.
Sorry if I came across as a weirdo but it was just something that came to mind when reading your comment. 🙂
