He regularly appears on the stage in the lineups of Mojmir Bartek-trombone, Jaromir Hnilicka-trumpet, Gunter Koci-sax. and so on. 1992 he becomes a member of Jan Beranek's Ornis, Mojmir Bartek's group Pekac, All Stars Band and Josef Audes Quartet. He forms his first group: ROMAN POKORNY QUARTET. 1993 he joins TUTU, a group from Ostrava formed by Boris Urbanek. Nominations of Czech Jazz association: Discovery of 1992. 1994 he works on his own material. He forms Trio komorniho jazzu with Jarda Hnilicka-trumpet. Nominations of Czech Jazz association: Discovery of the Year, Group of the Year. 1995 His Quartet records a CD called Magic Holidays and with Tutu a CD called Sun Dance, here he also takes part as a writer. Collaboration with Michal Pavlicek on a CD called Stin my krve by Roman Dragoun. The best soloist at the Trencin Jazz Festival in Slovakia. Nominations of Czech Jazz association: Discovery of the Year, Group of the Year. 1997 he disbands his Quartet and forms Roman Pokorny Trio with this lineup: Petr Dvorsky - bass, Jiri Slavicek - drums. He starts his, as it shows later, long-term collaboration with the singer Yvonne Sanchez. Nominations of Czech Jazz association: Discovery of the Year, R.P.Q Group of the Year. 1998 he records Jazz Perception. It is a septet consisting of R.P. Trio + Gabo Jonas - organ, Juraj Bartos - trumpet, Stepan Markovic - saxophones, Svata Kosvanec - trombone. Czech Jazz association: R.P. Trio is the best jazz group of 1997, nominated as the Personality of the Year. He records a CD called Tribute to Duke Ellington with Vincent Kumer a Lada Kerndl. In the annual poll carried out by the Czech Jazz Association and the Harmonie magazine, he is voted the best jazz guitar player of 1998. In the very same year, he starts to work as a producer for various singers and groups. 1999 he accomplishes a successful tour in U.S.A. and performs at jazz festivals in Bejrouth and Berlin. He records a CD called Blue Point. He is awarded prize of Czech Jazz association for the best jazz CD of the year - Jazz Perception. The STEREO A VIDEO magazine gave Roman's work called ACOUSTIC GROOVES, the record of the year prize. 2000 he forms a jazz group called Analogic. The music is inspired by hard rock, soul and funk from the '60s and '70s. Using his own means of expression, he creates an original fusion of these music genres and jazz. To materialise his ideas Pokorny invited young talented musicians with jazz attitude and rock feeling. He plays at the jazz festival in Riga. He is working on a vocal album for Lada Kerndl. He often accompanies the excellent USA singer Tonya Graves. 2001 he plays with his Blue Box Heroes and jazz trio, Yvonne Sanchez group and also with Jowana Jenkins. With jazz singer Lada Kerndl, he records a CD called "I Suddenly Realised". On this album, he composed 10 songs and arranged 3 standards to fit in the overall mood of the album. It is actually the first Czech record with original songs sung in English. 2002 Blues Box Heroes style has developed into an original fusion of blues, hard rock and jazz. In this year, he also brings into life his long standing dream - a jazz trio featuring Hammond organ. In this year, he records a great album for Arta Records with Alberto Marsico (great hammond organ player from Italy), and Bady Zboril on drums. It is called simply "03", and in this project he also plays a substantial role of composer. 2003 BBH finally record their debut album, which contains traditional blues songs and a several original compositions. The album comes out to begin with 2004 year. The album is self-produced. The Roman Pokorny Trio prepares a new album that should be released during the 2004 year. RP composes and records film music in his recording studio. 2004 Roman Pokorny Trio and Blues Box Heroes go on cultivating the proven constellation. The Arta Records releases Roman's new double CD "Two Faces". The first CD contains RP Trio live recorded in Prague at the "U Stare Pani" jazz club. The Second one is the new Blues Box Heroes album. There are also MPEG2 videos and computer game called "ROBOX" available on these CDs. Roman also works as composer for Yvonne Sanches, Jamie Marshal and Lada Kerndl. 2005 Repertoire of Blues Box Heroes consists now more of Roman's original compositions, that respect the blues roots, but also bring original elements of Jazz and Hard Rock, all recast by Pokorny's creative invention. New jazz Quartet plays in line-up: Roman Pokorny-guitar, Mirek Hloucal - trumpet, Jan Tengler - double bass and Tomas Hobzek - drums. On the Quartet conerts you can hear Roman's old compositions as well as new originals from the "2-faces" album. Roman also works on the DVD school and the courseware. At the end of the year the release of the singer's Lada Kerndl CD is being expected. There will be 14 songs written by Roman. BBH and Quartet play in clubs as well as on festivals all around the Czech republic and abroad. The "2-faces" cd became shortly the best selling Roman's record.
