Bad Penny
Rory Gallagher Lyrics

Well, like a bad penny you have turned up again,
You're in my sights, there's a mist on my lens.
I think you know how it was when I tripped and fell,
Well, you double-dealed me, baby and I broke like a shell.

Like a bad penny you've sure lost the glow
But I'm out of reach, your smile's sure gone cold.
Well, it can't ever be like it was then,
Well, don't you fool with me, baby,

Don't you mess with my plans.
Some stormy nights, your memory haunts me,
You won't go away.
Well, like a bad penny you have turned up in the change,

Try to fit into the picture, you can't get inside the frame.
I think you know I'm still sore, but I'm on the mend,
Times sure have changed, it won't happen again.
Well, like a bad penny spins around and around,

Well, you won't know what's gone wrong when it all falls down,
You got to learn from now on to stop playing games,
You ought to keep on moving, you got to spin on your way.
Some lonely nights, I hear you calling,

Won't you go away?
Well, like a bad penny you have turned up again,
You're in my sights, there's a mist on my lens.
I think you know how it was when I tripped and fell,

Well, you double-dealed me, baby, I cracked like a shell.

"Bad Penny"
Well, like a bad penny you've turned up again,

This version sounds more like this even thought there’s a verse I don’t catch (if someone knows) :

Like a bad penny,
You’ve turned up again
You're in my sights,
There’s a mist on my lens
I think you know how it was
When I tripped and fell,
You double-dealed me, baby,
And I cracked like a shell

Like a bad penny
Spins around and around
You won't know what's gone wrong
When it all falls down
You got to learn from now on
To stop playing games
Ought to keep on moving
You got to spin on your way

Some lonely nights,
Your memory haunts me,
You won’t go away

Like a bad penny,
You’ve sure lost the glow
But I'm out of reach
Your smile's sure gone cold
Can’t ever be back it was then
Don’t mess with me, baby
My heart (???)

Some lonely nights,
Your memory haunts me,
Won’t you go away ?

Like a bad penny,
You’ve sure lost the glow
I'm out of reach
Your smile's sure gone cold
It can’t ever be like it was then
Don’t mess with it, baby
My heart (???)

The Strat was invented BY Leo Fender, but it was invented FOR Rory Gallagher

@vince krohn No he didn’t lol

@vince krohn I've seen the interview. But all I saw was Mike telling Jimi he was recognized as one of the greatest guitarists of all time and Jimi being embarrassed about it all and saying, how about the greatest guitarists in this seat.

vince krohn

@Scott O that may be the case re: other musicians also. The time I'm referring to with Jimi occurred during a interview with Mike Douglas on his TV talk show. Jimi was quite aware of the reputation Rory had earned from the early on with Taste and the many festival appearances and continuous touring.

Scott O

@vince krohn that story has been told a hundred different ways about a hundred different players.

Jimi Hendrix was asked "how's it feel to be the best guitar player in the world?" Jimi replied "you'll have to ask Rory Gallagher"

I'm 39 years old and this is the first time I've heard of Rory Gallagher. This is a new beginning for me!
