His fame today rests almost exclusively on the nostalgic song Wien, du Stadt meiner Träume (Vienna, City of My Dreams), whose melody and lyrics he wrote in 1914.
Growing up in the middle of the Austrian Golden Age, Sieczynski learned to play the piano as a young child. Later he took a formal education in and then practicing law, never dedicating his career entirely to music. Being a follower of Strauss, he wrote exclusively traditionalist compositions. Because of this close tie to his time and place, he never earned fame outside his native country.
