Lorenzo is notable for coming fifth in the fifth series of the British version of TV talent show The X Factor in 2008. This was the year which saw Alexandra Burke win. Lorenzo's performance of "Purple Rain" (Prince) in the show went on to reach over one million views via YouTube in less than one week before it was removed.
In 2014, Lorenzo expressed interest in the Eurovision Song Contest and submitted a self penned track entitled "Dancing in the Rain." Ruth went on to take part in the 2014 Spanish National Final and received the highest number of public votes. Lorenzo represented Spain in Copenhagen in May 2014 and the song scored 74 points for Spain, finishing in 10th place out of 37 countries. Lorenzo joins Spanish singer Pastora Soler in being the two most successful Spanish entrants in Eurovision within the last 15 years (2004).
Lorenzo's highly anticipated debut album "Planeta Azul (Blue Planet)" was released on 27 October 2014. The collection spawned two radio hits 'Gigantes' and 'Renuncio'
On 16 October 2015, a special re-issue of her debut album Planeta Azul was released, which includes new tracks and songs she had recorded previously in English language. One of the new tracks, titled "99", was released as a single, this was followed by ''Echo''
On 30 July 2015, Lorenzo was announced to join the cast of the fourth season of television show Tu Cara Me Suena (Your Face Sounds Familiar), in which celebrity contestants impersonate a different iconic music artist on stage each week. The season premiered on 18 September 2015 on Antena 3. In the season finale that took place on 29 January 2016, she was declared the overall 1st-place winner with 47% of the (three-way) televote.
At the end of 2016, Lorenzo started the Voces Tour touring Spain, visiting Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Valencia and Murcia. Consequently, she released the hit charity single "Voces"
On 29 September 2017, Lorenzo announced "Good Girls Don't Lie", the first song off Loveaholic. The song was released on the 13 October 2017, reaching number one in sales on the main digital platforms such as iTunes, Google Play Music and Amazon. The song became trending topic on Twitter during that first weekend, and it also aired on main Spanish radio stations. Soon after that she announced The Loveaholic Tour for 2018.
Her second album, Loveaholic, was released on 9 March 2018; the album includes a collaboration with Jeff Beck. It peaked at number 9 on the Spanish Albums Chart. The record spawned a second single with commercial success, the song "Loveaholic"
In December 2018, Lorenzo debuted in musical theatre with the role of God, in La Llamada, at the Teatro Lara in Madrid.
In July 2019, Ruth released "Underworld" the lead single from her third studio album. The album is scheduled for release later in 2019.

At the age of one, Ruth loved the film Annie and would sing along in English, even though she had no idea what the words meant. Her mother nurtured Ruth's love of music by playing music and dancing with her.
Ruth was six when she first heard Monserat Caballet, an opera singer in Spain and she started to sing opera when her mother bought her Monserat's album. Ruth imitated her vocals until she was pitch perfect to the iconic Spanish opera singer.
At twelve years old, Ruth moved to America with her family and this was the first time Ruth had the opportunity to get involved with music at school. She took every music, theatre, dance and choir lesson going and all of her teachers encouraged Ruth, she was put into competitions and played lead roles in My Fair Lady and Phantom of the Opera.
The family moved back to Spain when Ruth was 16 and although Ruth had some singing lessons by this point, she had to give them up due to the financial difficulties her family were having. Ruth gave up on her dream as it was becoming clear that it would never be something that would pay the bills.
Ruth was approached by a rock band when she was 19 this was a new challenge because she had only ever sung classical music. Ruth made the decision that she would give up her job at the family business and follow her dream once again. The band became very close as the toured Spain and Ruth stayed with them for 3 years.
Before X Factor UK, at the age of 19, Ruth auditioned for 'Operacion Triunfo' Spain's biggest TV talent show at the time.
