He has performed solo and chamber music recitals in many European and North American festivals (Aix-en-Provence, Beaune, Brugge, Nantes, Lockenhaus, Schleswig-Holstein, Sopron, Wallonie, San Francisco, Lamèque). He works regularly with Anima Eterna Orchestra, Belgium, and the Tafelmusik Orchestra, Canada. He has also performed with ensembles including Aura Classica, Les Concertistes, Diapente Consort, Arion, Repères Baroques, Neue Düsseldorfer Hofmusik, Oberlin Consort of Viols, and Opera Atelier. He has worked with Gustav Leonhardt, Barthold Kuijken, Jos van Immerseel, Andrew Parrott, Trevor Pinnock, Jean-Claude Malgoire, Marc Minkowski, Monica Huggett, and Bruno Weil.
Sergei Istomin received his Master of Music at the Moscow Conservatory where he studied with Valentin Feighin. While in Russia he performed with Alexey Lubimov and Tatiana Grindenko. After moving to North America he completed his post-graduate study in viola da gamba and baroque violoncello with Catharina Meints Caldwell at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Ohio, USA. In Canada Sergei Istomin was a core member of the Tafelmusik Orchestra. He also was on the Early Music Program at the faculty of the University of Toronto. Now Sergei Istomin lives in France where he pursues his international career.
