Fueled with lyrics and the principles of Rastarfarian customs, he takes each day modestly and joins the ranks of reggae music ambassadors. He was born Guy Harney in Roseau Dominica and later adopted the alias "Simpleman" as a chanter on Reggae Vibes Productions Inc. His musical origin like many of his predecessors, commenced at the tender age of 14 and career initiatives blossomed after becoming a fan favorite at local school competitions.
Simpleman's desire to broaden his musical horizon propelled his relocation to West Orange, NJ. This transition was very productive, facilitating numerous dubplate recording opportunities in the New York Tri-state. In 1994 he then moved to Brooklyn, NY and produced his first single "Matie Mad Eh" which created a buzz that attracted promoters and various sound systems in reggae music. His second release a very righteous tune "I Turban" displayed his musical diversity and captured the heart and soul of his fans. Artist, singer and painter often define this multi-talented individual whose feature single "Focused" from Reggae Vibes Productions Inc "Focus Riddim" compilation cd vividly represents his mindset. His track titled "Little Computer" on the "Nude Rhythm" Compilation cd touches on the virtue of electronic communication with his female fans. He has developed a story telling niche encompassing the usage of metaphors and similes rare as a gem and definitely worth treasuring.
He has performed at various venues in the US and the Virgin Islands and shared the stage with reggae artist such as: Junior Reid, Sizzla, Beenie Man, Michael Rose, Sister Carol, Angie Angel, Jahmason, Sugar Minott, Capelton and many others. Simpleman's keen ear for urban music can sometimes be distinguished with his melodies and through his desire to collaborate with hiphop artists such as Nas. His favorite dishes are Ital food/vegetables and hobbies include basketball and fine arts. His musical influences transcend genres and objective is to make timeless music that reaches the top ten charts.
