This song to me relates to what its like to be in my abusive relationship. She cheated on me, and verbally abuses me yet i still love her. She pleads ignorance, she knows what she does is wrong but continues to do it.
ie. ‘you know just how to be cruel, when you shake your hips that way, i dont care what you say’ eluding to she may be kinda dancing in other people or whatever and she tries to defend it as ‘just dancing’ but she doesnt believe it in ‘i dont care what you say.’

That's "Michelle" defending her actions towards the listener (one abused) by complimenting them, even though she's putting them through trauma. When I was abused, that's what my abuser did. He thought that would make it better, like Michelle did. Of course that's just my take on it.
