Everyday People
by Sly & The Family Stone

Sometimes I'm right and I can be wrong
My own beliefs are in my song
The butcher, the banker, the drummer and then
Makes no difference what group I'm in

I am everyday people, yeah yeah

There is a blue one who can't accept the green one
For living with a fat one trying to be a skinny one
And different strokes for different folks
And so on and so on and scooby dooby doo

Oh sha sha we got to live together

I am no better and neither are you
We are the same whatever we do
You love me you hate me you know me and then
You can't figure out the bag I'm in

I am everyday people, yeah yeah

There is a long hair that doesn't like the short hair
For bein' such a rich one that will not help the poor one
And different strokes for different folks
And so on and so on and scooby dooby doo

Oh sha sha we got to live together

There is a yellow one that won't accept the black one
That won't accept the red one that won't accept the white one
And different strokes for different folks
And so on and so on and scooby dooby doo

I am everyday people

This song is sooo relevant in 2020. Police brutality, racism, George floyd being killed. "I am no better and neither are you, we are the same whatever we do you love me you hate me , you know me and then you cant figure out the bag I'm in" we are all breathing the same air, the same atmosphere. We are in this world together, we have to live together, not apart, no matter the color skin you have, you're important. We need to stop racism. Blacks are just as important as any other race.

Someone says something and bang! Stepped on a mine again! People will hastily say..ah! You're one of those .....lib,conservative, Democrats and Republicans, white, black etc. We shove people into a box and refuse to talk. I want to invite all the polarized groups together and have tea. One rule...no talk of politics or religion. Let's find how we unify for once.

I agree! But we are not colors. Actually, God knew what he was doing when he created all of us. Depending where you or your people came from, is really not relevant. He decided so long ago where the sun would be on a particular part of the planet. Being different can actually be an eye opener. People with great minds invent, people with good minds have great ideas, and of course, people with small minds talk about other people. Whether you like it or not, we all are part of the HUMAN RACE, PERIOD!!

Nobody seems to nor wants to understand though, they all think of themselves.Very self absorbed in their own little world,Im native,we been through alot also ever since the landing of the pilgrims if anyone knows their true history theyd know that. Our land taken away sent on lil pieces of shit land, our language taken away.Im up in age now Ill never learn it and even if I did who am I gonna talk to?Two,three other people. It just makes me sick.Kids dragged outta there own homes to go to residential schools to get beaten, raped and murdered.I could go on n on but I hope my point is proven.
