His attention to the hip-hop music was drawn, when he was at the sixth grade... At that time he went on a school trip to Germany, where he bought his first hip-hop record by Kriss Kross „Totally Crossed Out”, together with his brother spinning that album 24/7. But then, yet it wasn’t SNO’s call for self expression through hip-hop. No, absolutely not! In between there has been appeal to pop, dance, techno, house, jungle, drum’n’bass...
He started to write rhymes, when, as it usually happens, different, unforeseen and painful changes take place in life... Then it seemed as catastrophe, now, looking back at all that, he sees it as awakening. It was like realizing, that he has walked a certain path all the previous life and suddenly became enlightened, that that road he’s been walking has been completely wrong. Not wanting to talk about it with anyone, but willing to tell about it at least to someone, SNO found paper and a pen as his ally, and since then, they both became his best friends, listening to all the problems, all the troubles, all the sorrows, happiness and joy, reflecting all of SNO’s inner feelings..
In some way inspired by motion picture „8 Mile” song „Loose Yourself", he wrote his first three verse song in Latvian… Later, forced by certain circumstances, he went to the United States for a couple of months, and being grateful to the Lord, that he’s given this gift, SNO continued writing lyrics, only this time, in English and, upon return, slowly began to combine his rhymes with music, and later, encouraged by his brother, went into studio and in a fantastic collaboration with his, let’s say producer – Staff and advisor PG started to create his own material..
People often ask, why is he still doing it in English, despite the fact that he is away from English environment? To which SNO’ answers: “In such way, I can be heard by more people, in such way, my music can make more people happy... Not a thing in a world makes me more joyful, than the awareness, that I can enrich souls and sing out someone’s pain or joy, that’s similar to mine! And the love that I’m receiving in return from you all is fantastic!! That’s my driving force, it motivates me to do more, to not to slow down... ever... As only by your appreciation, I can judge the quality of my music...”
P.S. If it seems for someone, that SNO might be copying Eminem or some other artist – hell yeah!! That is true!! He is copying every one of them, everyone who has been in the rap game since 1990 till now! He grew up with that music, listening in car at open window on high volume Nas, Jay-Z, Eminem, 2 Pac, Method Man, 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, Big Pun, Gustavo and many others, 90% of whom, you don’t even know. They all have influenced SNO, his style, the way he raps, the way he rhymes! And taken them all together, he has developed his own, unique style...
