Into The Sun
Sons Of The East Lyrics

Stealing Glances at the pavement
The weight it comes too soon
Supposed to keep on rolling
But the race is nothing new

As the train, it starts to go,
And it takes our bodies slow
And I know you wanted to for some time now

All this time you're gone
In your wake I stumble on
But the smoke is nothing that I haven't seen

So I walk into the sun
I thought you'd be there
But you could fool anyone
In the red water dust
Will I see you soon,
Or did we move on?

The crowd begins to break up
They're calling their goodbyes
My head's above the water
But I'm drowning in your eyes
So I walk into the sun

I thought you'd be there
But you could fool anyone
Got a head full of dust
Will I see you soon,
Or did we move on?
Well the race is long, you can't relax

And I don't belong so I'm headed back
It's getting hard, you feel the fear
I'm seeing red, wish you were here
And I walk into the sun
I thought you'd be there
But you could fool anyone
Got a head full of dust
Will I see you soon,
Or did we move?
Will I see you soon,
Or did we move on?
Will I see you soon,
Or do we move on?

Em Direção Ao Sol

Trocando olhares com a calçada
O peso vem cedo demais
Supunha continuar acontecendo
Mas a corrida não é nada nova
Como o trem, isto começa a ir
E leva nossos corpos devagar

Jameson Bornholdt

Here I am living in Seattle while the love of my life is in Idaho. I met her at school in the fall of 2018 and I became her best friend. She knew I liked her but she was hesitant about dating because of her past relationships. Despite being in the friendzone I stayed with her and would talk with her, be her friend, hang out with her, laugh with her, go shopping with her, shoot hoops with her, play music with her, do everything with her. She was worth any time it took for her to fall in love with me back. I've always had the idea that things that are worth it take work. I was willing to be her friend through it all. One evening after we hit the gym to play some pickup volleyball, I was going to go back to my dorm but she invited me over. This was the last night before the school cleared out for Thanksgiving break. I was with her until close to midnight talking. We listened to music and just enjoyed being with each other. When I was leaving I gave her a hug but this hug ended up lasting a lot longer than other hugs. We stood there in her doorway quietly hugging. Finally she whispered "I just want to be with you". A flood of emotion came over me but I didn't know what to say. I think part of what brought about her saying that is the fact we were about to leave on holiday. "You will be," is all I could say. We separated and we locked eyes. Reading her face, I made the decision to kiss her, but she beat me by asking "Can I kiss you?" We kissed and I left feeling confident. In my mind this was going to be the last time I saw her before Thanksgiving break, that also meant there was only a few weeks left of school before the semester ended. I wasn't going to be coming back for the winter semester and feared that if I didn't have a good chance to build a real relationship with her before Christmas then it might not happen between us. As I was walking home, my phone started buzzing. It was her. "Where are you? I need to tell you something." I stopped walking because she had left her apartment and was coming after me. We finally met up and we went to a private spot away from the sidewalk and other people. It was well below freezing outside and we were both in shorts, but standing there in the cold she told me she wanted to give us a shot. She told me she wanted to be my girlfriend.

In that moment I was the happiest than I ever have been since, for the next day as I was driving home to Utah and she was a passenger in a car going home to Washington, they hit black ice and rolled their Forerunner multiple times. Her seatbelt broke and she was ejected from the vehicle. She and the two other girls in the crash nearly lost their lives, but she had the worst of it. Two girls were knocked out, including my gf who was in a coma. They were so far off the road and there were so few cars in the area that the only reason they survived is because one of the girls, with broken bones, made it to the roadside and flagged vehicles for 15 minutes until someone finally stopped and they could call for help. The girls were life-flighted to Missoula Montana.

I knew she wouldn't be coming back to school anytime soon, so when I got back from break, I gathered all of her things from her apartment into my car and drove myself to where she was hospitalized. She had only just barely come out of her coma the day before, but was in no clear mental state. She had gone through surgeries repairing her wrist and had facial and skull fractures. I spent the next few hours with her and passed her belongings onto her parents so they could take them home.

The recovery process was excruciating for her. She never remembered me visiting her and her brain, like any other, would take a long time to heal. She started texting me again some weeks later, but not often, and some time later I was finally able to call and talk with her. She had been transferred to a recovery facility closer to her home in Washington so it would be impossible for me to visit her while I was at school. As she recovered and was able to talk with me more, I feared her injury and our distance would change the way she thought of me. I wanted to plan to fly to see her but didn't know when, and I didn't know if she wanted me there. Doctors strictly warned against visits from anybody other than her immediate family because they needed to keep her brain at ease.

Weeks went by, the semester ended and I went home. I would call and talk with her as often as she was feeling up to it, but she would become more and more distant each time. She finally let me know that she didn't think we should date and that she didn't know if she'd ever want to. In my mind, she just needed to see me again so she could remember how close we were and how she felt about me. Time went by and it was coming close to the Spring semester. I had hoped she would have recovered enough to come back to school, but it was still hard for her to use her mind so much. She ended up missing the semester. We grew further apart.

Finally in the summer, I had an opportunity arise to play baseball at a college in Seattle. I took the opportunity and am here now. She has returned to school in Idaho where I might have been had I chosen otherwise. On paper, I'm fulfilling my dream and setting myself up the live the best life I possibly can, especially if I continue and play professionally... but deep down, I'm heartbroken and wish I had had more time to be with her and make something more. She made it clear that she wouldn't want to date me, but there's always going to be the part of me wondering if I had been at school right now, what might be different? One year is approaching on the day she had her accident (November 23, 2018), the accident that changed the course of our lives forever, and she is on my mind constantly. Who knows what might have been? All I know is I loved her.
