The output could be described as psychedelic rock and shoegaze though influences from Indian ragas, Madchester, funk and folk also play their part. The band frequently invites friends to join on stage to create a huge wall of sound and a solid touch of the unpredictable.
What would become Spökraket started out in Århus in the summer of 2010 by Bjørn Vind Abildtrup, Hans Christian Andersen, Jonathan Højgaard and Michael Skjoldborg Lyberth. While still haven't settled for a singer the band recorded countless improvisations and a few songs. Various singers was tried but they were all considered either too busy doing other things or too flaky. For some time Jesper Merlit joined on vocals and guitarrs but a week before their first announced gig in April 2011 he left again due to tinnitus issues and Højgaard took over the vocals. The very first gig established the bands tradition of jamming out, partying like crazy and inviting friends on stage.
Levitated by the gig a 4 track tape recorder was purchased and an album was recorded quickly. "All Art Is Propaganda" was released digitally in 2011 and on vinyl in 2012 and sounds like Can, Neu!, Velvets and Spacemen 3 jamming out together. The band established themself as an unpredictable live act. Sometimes gigs would be close to the sound of the album, sometimes they'd be totally chaos depending on the mood of the band members.
Mid-late 2011 was a huge mess though still very productive. Lyberth left the band in order to move back to Odense where he joined the newly formed The Road To Suicide. Thomas Mee joined as a studio drummer and played guitar live as Lyberth had agreed to travel for gigs till his successer was found. Fortunately experienced and creative drummer Sinas Robin Krøjer Svendsen was up to the challenge. Soon after Kasper Skotte Krogh joined on guitar and Freja Pallesen joined as a part time member on synths and vocals.
This expanded chaotic incarnation of Spökraket performed a number of gigs and recorded in the improved Cable Hell that now had an 8-track tape recorder and a coffee machine. Later on a 16-track was added.
By Summer 2012 Kasper Skotte left Århus for educational reasons and was no longer a member of Spökraket though he continued playing with the band live. Also his new band NarcoSatanicos took off and presented some truly mindblowing dark psychedelia.
Solveig Roseth joined on vocals and live guitar and overdubbed vocals on tracks that was recorded during the recent year. This took the sound to a new level as it allowed a more shoegazy and dreamy side of the band to bloom. By early 2013 a split 12" with The Road To Suicide was released on Levitation Records to critical acclaim and decent sales. However Roseth left the band again soon after the release of the split.
Despite of the constant changes in membership the band decided to release "Darling Adharma" as a double album. The lineup changes the groups and a reputation for being too messed up the album failed to be released on vinyl but Raum Eins Records did lend a helping hand putting releasing the album on CD-R and cassette.
By Automn 2013 Hans Christian Andersen decided to leave the band.
